Hi Guys,
Willow made it home yesterday.
When we went to collect her she came out and jumped up to stand on her back legs for a good petting and kind of looked at her scar as if to say "Look Mum, no more useless leg!"
She grumbles and groans moving round in her bed, but is on painkillers twice daily to help. I'm also givning her arnica to help as well. Her drain keeps dripping bloody fluid, so we have to change bedding regularly and mopping up floors. But at least it's stopping the swelling round her site.
She's a little stiff, but we had her out for three minute son the lead for a slow walk; that seems to have helped loosen her up abit.
My 6 year old freaked out when we got out of the vets and into the car yesterday. Crying and squealing that Willow was too scary and she never wanted to look at or pet her ever again. A bit of talking and explaining that she won't always look like this and it was all part of her getting better helped. Later when we were home she was going and giving her "3 legged wonder dog" pets and cuddles of her own accord. Relief!!
I felt like I had hit a brick wall yesterday evening myself. I think I just had so many mixed emotions flying around. We've been thorugh alot in this last few weeks and bringing Willow home yesterday is hopefully the last step in it all. It does break my heart though, seeing the little splats of blood on the floor when she walks around. But we will get through this!! I've seen much worse in my time working with horses, I think motherhood has just softened my up to it all, lol
