I was wondering what worming tablets you all use on your whippets? We had been giving Penny the pedigree ones which suited her fine, there was never any upset tummies or sickness, it turns out now that these have been discontinued.

Before we got her onto them we had tried different brands which made her quite sick. We have looked back on her book and she has previously had drontal plus - dad said this made her very sick, bob martin and johnsons she was definitely sick with one or both of those. Just wondering if you have any suggestions of any other we could try? Its a shame if every time she needs to be wormed she will be sick now, which might even stop it working.

Thanks

I always use Panacur 10% liquid for my lot, and this includes pups I've bred that start it at 2 weeks old :)

I think you will find that the Pedigree wormer tablets were Panacur Favourites but marketed under the Pedigree banner!!

I sometimes use Drontal but one of mine was always sick on it. Panacur Favourites are very, very palatable and are a broader spectrum wormer so I tend to use them now. Canine Chemists (Hyperdrug) sell them at a very good price.

I use drontal which I have found to be fine.

i use milbamax or drontal plus and have had no probs

I have been using Drontal tablets, but we cannot get them here anymore

They have been replaced by the chewy things, which are fine for the adults, but I divided them for the pups and it was difficult to get them to eat it. One was then rather sick for few days. It was suggested that the outer coating does not contain the chemical, while the middle is most potent, so the pups who got the edge got lot less than the ones who got the middle.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I think we are going to try Panacur Favourites to start with since these are just like the pedigree ones she had no problem with.

Drontal used to make Phoebe sick sometimes so she had Panacur Favourites which she ate ok. However, when moving house and changing vets they recommended trying Drontal again as they kill all types of worm and Drontal only some. Don't know if I've got that completely right but it was something like that  .

They said give her the Drontal after a small meal and that does the trick, no sickness at all  . I cut the tablet in half and give her the bits in a piece of sausage which gets gobbled up :D
