for the past few days ruby has slowly got extreamly nervous and well quite frankly she is missrable :(

shes been of her food, only pecking at it, and is even refussing to go outside of a pee, shes choosing to go in the house :(

i noticed last week, when Tyg was here, Tyg took a daft turn and bombed about the living room for like 5mins non stop, she sat on the sofa litterally shaking, to the point when i was holding her i was shaking

once Tyg stopped she calmed right down and was fine, but the last 2/3 days she will just start shaking for no reason, i have had to carry her out the back and shut the back door otherwise she wont go out, and while shes out there she wont pee she just stands shaking, with her wee claws chattering of the path.

she doesnt even come and meet you at the door :(

she came into season on the 10th so shes now on like day 18, is it somthing to do with her season??

on taking her out and about she is fine, pees/poos no problem, but she has been on a lead as there are always other dogs about. so is it somthing to do with needing a good run???

OH and i joked that she worried she will go out one day and not come back like Tyg did on tuesday but surely thats just a coincidence that its kinda started since then

not sure what to do about it, does she need to see the vet??

is it just the season?

or is there somthing im missing?

i feel so sorry for her she looks so missrable all the time :(

Shame she really doesn't sound very happy :(

It is very likely her season. The hormones can really mess with their heads something terrible!!!

Is it possible something could perhaps have freaked her when you were not round?

I wouldn't take her to the vet just yet. If you feel she is physically ok, wait and see what she is like in day or two.

Good luck!!

i doubt it, they are crated when we are out, the only people in the house have been us and shes been on lead walks, so i dont think its that.

i would rather not take her to the vet, its £30 just to walk through the door, so if it is just her hormones then id rather put the £30 towards spaying her :b (£160)

but i would hate to have missed somthing and shes really not well, (cant help but worry when they're not themselfs) :(

oh katie - they are such a worry when they are not 100%

talulla is mid season at the moment and is very low - not playing with the others, reluctant to go out.... but whilst she is still eating and drinking i do not worry .

being in season does change them

and bless your two they have had a tornado running through their home and are probably waiting for it to appear around the corner at any moment :D

i think she will settle down once she knows Tyg has gone and once her hormones return to normal.

thinking of you

tracy x

is it her first season our Darcey's had her first season and turned in to a quacking wreck shes on week 9 now and is nearly back to her old self but she was acting like a Beeton dog with anything load noises anything strange yet out and about on lead was absolutely fine. she was off her food for about 3 week but that's back to normal now. if anyone would have seen her she acted like a beaten dog and she just looked so sad

I expect it's just the season, Katie. Try not to worry too much, hun

It affects them all differently, I have some who don't change at all and others who do what Ruby is doing  It just depends on their individual make-up.

After day 21 you should see her starting to return to normal, but it can take a while so ride with it and let her adjust in her own time. The best thing you can do is to keep your normal routine going with her and when she is feeling more cheerful you can feed her a bit more if she has lost some weight

Life's a bitch for a bitch :( ........ give her a big hug from me xxx

Blue gets really down at season time Katie, but gets over it as she comes out of the season...just to return into it 8-9 weeks later!!! so be warned xxx

thanks guys, we are pretty sure she will be spayed, as we dont want pups and if shes going to be missrable like this it be much better for her i think, so this will be her one and only season :sweating:

its nice (well not nice really if you know what i mean) to know that others hav experianced it, as it is really worrying :(

and like wendy said if someone was to come in the house and see her they would think we beat her or somthing

just waiting on starry to get hers now two, no signs of it at all, so i guess knowing my luck, once ruby ends and she cheers up, stars will start

thanks for the advice xxxx

let her get on with it Katie, she will snap out of it in time...my advise is not to make an extra fuss...as Jane said treat her normally, if you wrap her in cotton wool it will only nurture the unwanted behaviour :nuke: ...so best to just ignore all the silly stuff completely, and make a fuss when she is acting her usual self  .... violet went the same and i made the mistake of worrying and giving extra affection...i made a rod for my own back as by the time the season ended i had a shaking whining brat of a dog   ....a couple of days of ignoring her when she sat shaking and acting like she was terrified of me and the other dogs soon snapped her out of it :D

Just to be on the safe side Katie, I would take her temperature. If it is normal, then like the others say, she probably is feeling a bit yukky like we do sometimes, and the more you fuss and worry, the more she will feel there's something to worry about. It's not nice for them, and I think most of them show some change in behaviour at time of seasons. Hopefully she will soon be back to her normal happy self xx

Bless her  hope she's back to her old self soon.

I have two litter sister that are like chalk and cheese when it comes to seasons. Talli will quietly take herself off to the dining room and get into bed, we see nothing of her except at dinner time or the twice a day she deems necessary to go toilet. When the other bitches come sniffing around she will sit and curl her tail round as much as to say, "Do you mind, leave it alone!". All the while her sister Jessica is running around the house, shouting and crying, lifting her tail, spinning it round and shoving her back end underneath the other bitches trying to get them to mount her !

Poor little soul, the things we girls go through. Give her a cuddle from me :huggles: and I hope she feels better soon.

I know nothing about seasons - we only do boys here - but I do hope she's feeling better soon :)

She should be feeling better soon.

None of my bitches really change when they are in season Holly is yet to have her first and Amber has just had her first season. She turned into a screaming banshee. She squealed all the time but we think this was mostly because for the first time in her life she was split up from her brother. She had to sleep with Holly and she protested very loudly.

thanks guys, i think its pretty safe to say its her season then

June - i have no idea where to even begin with taking her temperature

the only thermometer we have is one of they strip thingys that you stick to your head and it changes colour, but its never very acurate and i cant imagine it would work quite the same on a dog

Sorry no advice katie as skye hasn't reached that stage yet :sweating:

Hope ruby soon settles down, bless her
