   Forgot to add,,,he can't be walked much as he has no muscle tone AT ALL
she looks like the only place she walks to is the chippy, fat cow should feed her dogs the same way she manages to feed herself

How terribly upsetting to see... I hope something can be done.. Whippets are NOT that picky eaters (mine are like dust bins) so there is no way he should be that skinny

Some whippets are picky eaters :(

My Robbie (Rch/Nch Guess Who ) is very picky, BUT I fed him chicken, rump steak, pasta, bread, and other food he would eat.

He would have looked like this dog ,,most folk on k9, know my Robbie and what I have did to try and get him to eat dog food.

Tonight he got mince, bread and pasta for his tea, he got chicken, bread and pasta for his morning meal, so did Gizmo

He's still not keen on dog food, but I leave dry dog food out 24/7 for them to eat, sometime he eats it other time he wont. He does not race now as he won at all levels, so does not need to prove anything now :huggles: ,,a full time pet.

If this lady (Bas%"rd), had fed this wee guy on good human food he would look as good as my boy does  , She's out to make money from her dogs, the sooner they are found new home's, the better

Susan, one of my lot is not picky, but can only eat certain food,he can't eat raw or certain tinned meat,he has sensitive complete,he been to the vets countless time, but can't find anything wrong,he not got much musle and looks underweight :but its not a delibrate thing, just one of those things,he is much loved and done what we can to sort this problem out

Well if that is the case should she be breeding from him???

We don't know whether this woman has not been feeding this dog properly or whether he has got a problem. But i certainly don't like the looks of things here

Well, there are very skinny whippets with ribs and pin bones showing, and starved whippets, and that one certainly looks half starved. :(

I'm hesitant to sling mud though as we don't know the full story. I also hate seeing nastiness about being overweight...even if it is linked to this particular 'seller'.

Is there anything anyone can do to intervene without us all resorting to this 'bitching', as angry and as upset as we are at the picture? Have the RSPCA been in contact with the person who originally reported them?

I have not heard back from them but will chase it up later!I did request they let me know the outcome but.....

What a sensible post Nicola.

Yes, it is very distressing to see this dog in such a skinny state and I do find it very unlikely that it is just one of those naturally skinny whips (one of which I have myself and I don't eat all his food!)

It really doesn't help the matter by being so rude about the woman on the ad, it's not really the point and I'm sure that we're not all super model thin either! :- "

Agree with above two posts,

The important thing is the dogs welfare, I think he looks starved but someone has reported it to the RSPCA, lets all hope something is done but we don't need to start being nasty about the womans weight, has nothing to do with it!

I have only just been able to see the photo on this thread, my computer has been playing up. I wish someone could go get him. Is this the same woman that looked like she was half strangling a whippet on another photo that was put on here? It makes my blood boil. I wish there was some way this could be stopped.

yes this is the same person who was selling the half strangled dog, but sadly this dog i dont think is for sale, he is just being shown to advertise the litter of puppies he has sired :( :(

Well I have chased the RSPCA but they said no case would be dealt with that quickly!!!

Actually, it has! It underlines how selfish and uncaring she is. She can feed herself to excess and at the same time starve her dog.

It is an utter disgrace.

Interesting that everyone here is having a go at a woman for having a very skinny whippet (and yes she may or may not be feeding it properly, who can tell), yet no-one has mentioned how cruel it is to have an overweight whippet. I certainly see many pictures in here of whippets whom you cannot even see one rib. According t every book I have read on the breed, it states that three ribs should be visible. Surely the excess strain being put on these poor dogs is just as bad as a whippet who is underweight.

If the woman was advertising (by way of) an overweight whippet then I am sure the response would be just as vehement.

It seems to me that the folk on this forum are both knowledgeable and caring of the breed.

As much as we all don't like what we see,i think the rules are being broken on here about a person

Not very nice to see those pics. :( Hope something can be done. :luck:

the fact is, this thread isn't about a fat whippet, it's about a skinny one therefore people are only commenting about a skinny dog.

i've never heard of whippets having to have three ribs showing  but three vertebrae visible around mid spine yes and to be able to feel all the ribs easily.
