Interesting that everyone here is having a go at a woman for having a very skinny whippet (and yes she may or may not be feeding it properly, who can tell), yet no-one has mentioned how cruel it is to have an overweight whippet.  I certainly see many pictures in here of whippets whom you cannot even see one rib.  According t every book I have read on the breed, it states that three ribs should be visible.  Surely the excess strain being put on these poor dogs is just as bad as a whippet who is underweight.
the fact is, this thread isn't about a fat whippet, it's about a skinny one therefore people are only commenting about a skinny dog.

i've never heard of whippets having to have three ribs showing  but three vertebrae visible around mid spine yes and to be able to feel all the ribs easily.

My point is that people are happy to jump on the bandwagon and critise a woman with a skinny whippt, yet maybe they should look a little closer to home before accusing others of mistreating their whippets.

Why if her name and whereabouts are known? Have they not been reported to the RSPCA? I'm sure they would like to see the state of these dogs

are you sure you're on about the right forum....i don't recall seeing particularly fat whippets on here. there are certainly working and non working/racing whippets on here and i would naturally expect there to be a difference in physique but i would be very careful before i accused people on this forum of mistreating their whippets, in fact i've only seen evidence of quite the opposite.(although i'm not one for dressing up my dogs.)

i do know what your saying jess but you must admit that dog is in an appalling state and really should not be advertised on any site to be honest the other pic she put on left a lot to be desired to so i really do think somethimg has to be done if only for the dogs but i do agree slating her isnt going to help we dont know if she comes on here

Im not an aggressive person at all, but this picture just makes my blood boil. Ive given up trying to understand some people, & now just think some are just plain evil. Just awful.......

The person lives in Hailsham East Sussex

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I am a member of the sussex longdogs club which is in hailsham, i"ve never seen this women before but if did and she had that poor dog with her i would take it off her then i would knock the fat bitch out  ENOUGH SAID! I really hope the RSPCA do something quick for theses poor dogs its bang out of order and the site she is advertising on should also be reported for letting her advertise on there. Clare

These pictures anger me as much as the next person, but I'm not sure what is to be gained from naming and shaming. Yes, we need to make sure the dogs are safe, and that the website is made aware. And I know from experience that we can't always rely on the RSPCA to do their thing for whatever reason. However, if the RSPCA have been informed by a couple of people, why are we putting addresses and such on here? What are we advocating? Hate mail? Makes me a little uncomfortable, as does the name calling. This woman is at best uneducated about dogs and dog breeding, and at worst little more than a domestic puppy farm . I don't condone it in any way, but can't believe some of the vehemence I'm reading on here.

 yes the dog is in a state, but posting this womans address is out of order, people have already posted her full name

i have reported this to the moderators as im sure most of the post on this thread........her address and her name are against K9 posting rules

have to agree, i dont agree with the address being posted either,

if someone wanted the address that badly they could join the "pupz" site and get it them selfs, no need for it to be put out on a public forum, that is just asking for trouble. :(

if this person is a "silent" member, or someone on here knows them, it could get k9 into a lot of trouble posting personal details :(

I couldn't agree more with you. It has gone too far now.

I have removed her address. We may not like what this woman is doing or her lifestyle, but personal details should not be posted.

i have spoken to the animal welfare officer in her area and he knows the person already. He has spoken with her today and she took the blue dog to the vets yestersday. The welfare officer did ring the vets up and the vet did confirm with him that she did take the dog. He will be checking up on the dog next week. He is going to let me know how the dog is next week. I also sent him the picture of the dog as the lady has removed it from her ad.

well done some good work there getting the lad sorted lets hope she sorts all her dogs out now

Thats great news, Im so glad something is being done. She has staffies too according the ads on another well known ad site, so hopefully all dogs she owns will be checked.

No whippet should have nearly all his ribs showing, spine bones visible and pin bones very visible.

I hope there will be a satisfactory outcome at the end of this, I am afraid I do not trust the RSPCA, their idea of well kept is different to most people.

Also hope all the other dogs she may have are taken away from her, but that will not happen.
