This is my first post and I'm not sure I'm doing it right! I have an adorable whippy girl called Ruby who is just over a year and would really like a young girl whippet (not small pupp)to kepp her and us company ..............anyone know of any? thanks :D

There is a sweet little 20 month old whippet on ePupz website. Poor little thing has already had a litter of pups. She could be what you are looking for. Sounds like she could do with a good home.

Oh she looks gorgeous! I will make enquiries today............. thanks

Hi Nic

It would be fantastic if the poor little girl got a loving home. I have had all sorts of adoptions and rescues. They can be hard work at first as they may have issues. This little girl has hardly had time to be a puppy before becomming a mother. As she is not spayed and is a similar age to your own whippet, if you do take her, you may find that you have dominance issues with your own girl once she is settled in and grown in confidence.

Best of luck

oh my god! I picked up that gorgeous girl last night she is now called Ella. She was living outside and I was worried how she would be in the house but Ella and Ruby had a lovely quiet sleep under their own quilt on their own bed and i had to wake them up at 8 this morning! She is very timid but everything going really well so far, I lover already ..................

Thnaks for your suggestion!

Oh Nic

I am so pleased. :) :) :) She looked a darling little thing in the photograph. I am sure she will grow in confidence over the next few months.

It is great that Ruby seems to have accepted her so quickly and that they would share a bed on their first night together.

If Ella has lived outside, you may have some accidents at first but she has Ruby to show her where to go and what to do.

If this is your first time introducing a second dog and taking on a 'adoption', do keep an eye on the girls at tension times like feeding and cuddlles for jealous squabbles. With rescues, this can happen as the new dog grows in confidence and sometimes surfaces in the first few days or weeks. If she is timid, let her come to you in her own time. Lilly was petrified when she first came to us. This meant that we could not let her off the lead for over a month until she was confident and trusting enough to come at recall.

I am absolutely delighted that you have Ella and she now has a home where she is loved with another young whippet that she can play with. Ruby will be able to show Ella how to have the fun that she missed growing up.

Please keep K9 posted as to Ella's progress and post photos when you have time.

If you have any problems, there is plenty of help and advice on the forum

Best wishes

eve

Well done , she looks a lovely girlie . I have been quite worried about her .

Hi NicHow is Ella getting along? :)
Hi

She is doing really well, she is a total snuggler! Ruby and Ella are fine in the house but Ruby is being a bit of a bully when they are outside off lead, Ella has told her off a few times but nothing serious. She has had no accidents in the house bless her, I'm very proud! Have tried to put some photos on but haven't quite succeeded, will keep trying................. I think my hubby now worried I will want one whippet per year now (he could be right!)

oh well done im so pleased for you and her :huggles:

Bless  I am sure they will sort out who is boss quite quickly. Ruby is still a puppy and if anyhing like Toddy is probably a pest wanting to play with her new friend all the time. Lilly and Toddy have massive play fights which look and sound lethal but are just fun. Ella and Ruby will probably be the same once Ella has found her feet :))

Looking forward to seeing the pictures :))
