Following on from my review about our stay at Lympscott Barn, here is my review on some of the things we did there.

Bude is a beautiful town perfect for strolling along it's canal or going for a swim at the main beach, Summerleaze (this beach does have dog restrictions from 21st May- 30th September).

Dennis had so much fun playing on the beach. If there is water around he will be in it! It also seems that the beach air affects his hearing as he decided to ignore me completely and trot straight up some steep steps to a viewing point. Nearly giving me a heart attack in the process because it was a very windy day!

'I don't see your problem mum'

There are also plenty of coastal footpaths that will take you on lots of nice walks. Just be aware that there won't be any fencing on the cliff edge. Again Dennis seems to lose his hearing at this point

We stopped off and had a coffee in the sun (we wrapped up very warm!) at the Olive Tree restaurant on the canal front. Unfortunately dogs aren’t allowed inside but they do provide blankets for outside. Failing that, you can head across the road to the Brendon Arms who allow dogs in their bar area.

We also went to Widemouth Bay (on the recommendation of a dog forum member!) which is only a 5 minute drive from Bude. A great sandy beach with the added bonus of discovering @Black Rock Cafe which is dog friendly.

Dennis on Widemouth Beach

The staff were really friendly and welcoming and Dennis had lots of fuss! I highly recommend the goats cheese and caramelised onion panini. Definitely heading back to try their waffle menu to!

On Sunday’s you can enjoy a carvery at the Bradworthy Inn, like we did. The meal was such great value at £8.95 and it was delicious. Dennis was a happy boy to because he could join us. It may be a good idea to ring up and book because dogs are only allowed in the bar area. They are also open every other day with their normal menu.

Dennis fed up of posing for the camera

So many dog friendly things to do. If we can take Dennis with us we can because he's part of our family to.

Please let me know if there's anywhere you've been that's super dog friendly :)

Happy now he's having ice-cream (but also concentrating very hard on target)

Great review! I like the colour of the sky in your top picture. Glad the weather held for you, albeit a bit on the cold side.

Great review, Glad you enjoyed your stay, I may have to go back soon. I love Dennis on the pictures because his face is super adorable and he looks so grumpy, the captions are great too! The Olive Tree is a great restraunt but when we went with our cockapoo, we had to sit outside in the cold no blankets then, or heat lamps. Have you been the Weir? If not its very very dog friendly and just off the Bude canal - The Weir - Restaurant in Bude. It is scary on the cliffs when your walking and your dog has very selective hearing . The weather held up for you didn't it, aside from it being a little chilly. Dennis must really love ice-cream:D.

Thank you! It was gorgeous weather the whole weekend. Just freezing!

Thank you! He gets so annoyed with me taking photos. He fell in the sea also the day we went to Bude - he thought it was a sloping slipway but it wasn’t... it was just a drop!

Oh no I haven’t tried the weir. Thanks for sharing, will have a look!

Oh dear Dennis! I hope you didn't mind me sharing it, its a great café/restaurant Dennis would love when they do a BBQ :)

No not at all!!! The more dog friendly places shared the better

Do they still have the sea pool on the beach at Bude? I haven't been on the beach in decades there, but spent many a day in that pool in my childhood.
