What a good boy he is! No accidents for over a week, actually telling us when he needs to go out! Sleeping all night in his crate with no crying, changed to what will be his regular food. Sit, paw, lie down, fetch ! Still working with the ‘time out’ when overly excited and the biting and nipping starts, but other than that he’s a diamond!

Had his second injection today, so next Friday we are going to be out exploring the world! We can’t wait! And Flints rather excited too

Flint today, at 11 weeks, enjoying the sun after his injection.....he’s also put on 1kg in 2 weeks!

I’m currently working on ‘drop’, ‘stay’ and ‘come’...... but I’ll be interested in ‘spin’ ... sounds like something my mischievous lil man would enjoy

Spin’s a great trick, for excitable pups! - & it’s another that’s easily lured with a small tidbit, then the luring motion becomes the cue, later. Don’t forget to lure with an empty hand by attempt #6, U don’t want to create dependency on the presence of food to perform or comply.


Remember U can teach spin both ways, clockwise or widdershins, & U should teach both - as they exercise different muscles, & teach fluency to either “hand” (paw).

SPIN is also a perfect cued behavior to teach by shaping - using a marker, typically a box clicker, & marking each successive improvement, step by step, as the dog does them. The very 1st thing the dog must do to START a spin, is move in the desired direction - move the forepaw, shift their weight, swing their head or nose... anything markable that goes in the direction s/he will then spin.
