At my wits end. Puppy is still weeing in his crate but.only at night even after a toilet break in the night! Surely he should be dry trough the night if he is for 7 hours in the day? I even remove his water an hour before bed.

Look at it another way,why do some children wet the bed when they are perfect all day,and they aren't in a crate and able to good to the toilet.

How big is the crate relative to him? Is the crate in your bedroom or in another room?

House training is down to humans error...dogs Don't have a thought process that just clicks ..
Maybe you need to get a larger crate ..

Thoroughly wash and disinfect the crate. If it smells of pee he will associate it with his toileting area. Also remove blankets etc at night. Dogs don't like to toilet on hard areas, they usually toilet on something soft. Consider setting your nightly alarm for several visits to his usual toileting area. It may be hard at first but may pay off in the long run.
that's what I wanted to stop doing is getting up in the night. I did try taking his blankets out last night but he just whined so wondering if it was because he wasn't comfy?? yeah its all been cleaned. can they have accidents because there lonely throughout the night do you think? I do wear him out and he has good long walks.

Puppies are able to 'hold' urination when the bladder muscle is totally mature- in some, it takes longer than others. Nearly nine months for my cocker! You can do nothing to speed this up and harsher condition such as lack of bedding or forcing him to sleep with the smell of disinfectant (imagine how overpowering this is to a puppy's supersensitive nose!) won't make it happen faster. Can't you at least get a puppy pen so he is able to get up from his bed and wee on the floor? I'm sorry but I feel his comfort and health should come first. Confined in a cage just big enough for him to turn around with his own urine is not kind nor healthy.

Where is his crate at night - your room or elsewhere?
What time does he go to bed, what time do you take him out in the night, and when, approximately, does he wee - e.g. before or after you take him out at night?
If his crate is so small he has to lie in his own wee, and this doesn't stop him, I agree with the others that he needs a bigger crate for his own comfort - and I definitely wouldn't make him sleep on a hard floor. If he's unsettled, he'll need to wee more.
If you haven't had babies, regard this as good sleep-deprivation training

It could be that he is lonely. When we got Bosley (our chihuahua) from a family who couldn't look after him anymore) we put him outside our bedroom in the crate that the other owners said he slept in. He whined and cried so much it broke my heart. We put him on our bed and he's slept there ever since. 62% of small dog owners allow their dogs to share their beds. I'm not suggesting that you should do this, but our dogs are pack animals and like nothing better that sleeping with the pack. This way they are also available to protect us. You, of course, need to do what's best for you, your family and your lifestyle. If you have a large breed this may cause problems when it grows.

Is there a reason why he's in a crate,I take it that he can't get out. May be he's getting anxious about being lock in. I'd try a puppy pen if he isn't too big to get out. A nice bed with some training pads down for just incase and see how it goes. You never know,you may get some good sleep and you have a happy dog...win win.
I don't think crating him is a problem as he does go in by himself and he is in their in the day and doesn't do anything. really unsure what to do?? he also has itchy ears at the min, do you think this could be due to the fact im cleaning his cage with disinfectant and causing allergy?? some people say to just ignore them until you are ready to get up and they will learnt to hold it??

No, all you would do is teach them to pee in their crate and not bother to tell you they need to go. What do you mean by ignoring him? Is he whining in the night?

It may help if you could say what type of dog he is.
he is a French bulldog
he whines about 12 recently and ive tried taking him out but nothing he just wanted me. wakes up at around half 2/3 just recently whining and I let him out he wees then I put him back without saying anything to him. its like a cry/whine that turns into a bark??? I take his water bowl away about half 7 ?

Sounds to me like he's pining for human interaction and cuddles. What age did you get him and how long have you had him?
Since 10 weeks. he is sometimes okay, we give him so much attention in the day hes part of us and we let him on the sofa etc obv we do have boundaries but cant think why hes craving attention??

I would continue to take him out whenever he whines at night, but make yourself really boring. Don't talk to him or make eye contact, take him out on lead, and just stand there and wait. I'd give him a fair time before you go back in - the sights and smells of night might make him forget that he wanted a wee. If/when he wees, say calmly 'good boy' and lead him straight back in.

I have said this on the last 2 threads you started about your frenchie urinating and pooing in his crate that making a 6 month old pup sleep in a crate with no bedding is just Cruel ......
