Such a gorgeous pack of characters :)

Such a gorgeous pack of characters :)
Thank you. Younsters, particularly Aila has entered into the 'fruitloop' stage (as it was mentioned on other thread today). They are not always doing what they have been taught and at times it does get a little under my skin. Just this morning we've been in garden, they had plenty of time empty...and when we came in.. Aila stood on front of me staring straight into my eyes..."what's up...what do you want?" And the little bugger kept staring, bent down her back legs and weed, never taking her eyes off from me! o_O:rolleyes::eek: It was like she was doing I dare it- challenge.
Iida soon came over to check how I react to it... :D What can you do but be amused ...:rolleyes:

:D I think that having a sense of humour is quite essential when it comes to dogs,(or any animal actually)at any age.. though of course it does wear thin at times obviously! :rolleyes:
They all sound so lovely, a beautiful pack of nutballs:D

I have tried to get our youngsters to play ball...but the 'rules' are not sinking in. So instead Mum Iida does the ball work and the youngsters are running along for the fun of it...:D

Then our second eldest, Eva...she is almost 2 years old now;
View attachment 111979716 Eva is little bit of a 'odd ball' of the pack. Not only a look wise but in character too...and that must the wire fox terrier in her 'recipe'. She has incredibly soft side to her....but she can be VERY grumpy too :D....and oh SO playful! Grumpiness happens most often in the mornings as she is slow to wake up...she likes her 'lie ins', but come mid-day and she start to wake up...looking for a toys and volunteers to play with her (that's usually me). And BOY can she play....there is no end for throwing balls/toys around and fetching them OR ragging a rope....I don't know where she gets her stamina from!
All in all she had adjusted well to the new family order and the fact that she is not anymore the youngest who gets away with many things and no matter how irritating puppies can be at the times....with some help from us by letting Eva have some of her own time upstairs or going for allotments with just me as company...she has stepped up into her status of 'Auntie Eva' really well.
And since writing this post about Eva, things have changed a lot...our pack has shrunk :eek::(
Things started to change soon after that post as Iida decided that she is not letting Eva get away with her habit of dominating who get's to have the best chew. Usually she would go around checking if other's chews are better than what is given to her and if I was not standing next to her and stopping her doing it...she would simply walk in, drop her chew on floor and pull the others out of their mouths before deciding which one she would then walk away with. She has done that from the day one as a pup and Iida allowed it and no matter how hard I tried to stop her doing it, she was untrainable with that habit. Then one day Iida gave warning 'huff' for not to approach when she was chewing...Eva acted as she was absolutely 'gob smacked' and walked away. Couple of days later this happened again...but this time Eva pushed...after first walking away she turned around again and decided test the waters again and with same results...this time though she decided not to take no for an answer and that's it....Iida and Eva had their first scrap. :( And it felt like there was now broken boundary that once stepped over, there was no return.

For some reason Eva didn't bother much about youngsters and their chews...it was always about Iida's. Young ones soon established the rules with Eva, one simply gave verbal warning that Eva listened to and other one is so agile that she simply swiftly moved away leaving Eva to decide if she were to follow or not. But with Iida...each time there was words....and they got worst. Their friendship was no more. Eva's behaviour changed quite dramatically in other ways too...not worst but it was little bit bizarre...it was like she was being pup/youngster herself and at times she was absolutely 'hyper' when playing...she was constantly pushing our young ones to play with her, it was almost non-stop situation o_O I was wondering at times that if her new supplements had some funny 'E-numbers' to cause it all o_O:rolleyes: I just can't work it out what happened...it was like she was 'on speed' or having some 'extremely happy pills'....like tigger from Winnie The Pooh jumping on its tail o_O:D:D

So last two weeks our two older dogs lived 'upstairs & downstairs' life...only meeting each other very briefly when switching the places. Eva's behaviour changed in other areas too...she started to be obsessive over me (but only with Iida). Outside they were fine (possibly too busy to bother) though I could see they were keeping eye on each other and were not totally relaxed anymore.
All in all...we had to make very quick decisions before any physical damage was done to either dog or to us by being between the disagreeing pair and luckily we found a lovely couple who had lost their terrier not long ago and was ready for yet another rehomed dog. Eva has been on a 'holiday', a trial for the last couple weeks with them and they are over the moon with their new companion...being only dog and receiving full attention is suiting her much better, so now we've made the arrangements and Eva's move is being permanent one. The good thing is that she is still living locally and I'll be able to see her around. Rehoming one's pet is quite close for the pain that you experience when loosing one (if not more)....my puffed out eyes are only just starting to come down from the worst few first separation days....it ain't easy for sure.
When she first arrived;

Aw, I thought you had been quiet the last few days. But as you said, better this than risk of injury.

Well luckily I've always been close by when they have started to their disagreements...it has only been few, but even they are too many. I've/we've been able to separate them in time when they have happened, but the last scrap and the final one was the decider as I ended getting the worst of it and I don't want things escalating any further..hard decisions had to be done and quickly.
I know Eva is perfectly happy in the new setting...I'm the one who takes the separation the worst. Knowing how amazing dog she is and her character...and there is still lots more to come and discover as she is still quite young dog...I moan the 'best is yet to come' and it is not for me to have. The new owners are very lucky to have her. And now I'm starting to fill up again.....

Oh, that must be so hard for you. But it is absolutely the best outcome for all the dogs. Do Iida and the pups show any sign of missing the pups - or being more relaxed now she's not around?

The atmosphere here is quite different now..Iida is very relaxed within herself. Youngsters seem to be MUCH calmer and enjoy some quiet time and they don't have to play in such a manic way that Eva was getting them to act. In fact, it is first time I've seen them to behave like Lakies I would expect behave ...calm,cool and collective in a home envinronment and ready for action when it is called for. It just feels now that Eva has gone that lot of the laugh factor has gone, she was the 'clown' and source of many of the daily giggles. No...they don't seem to miss Eva at all. :(
We are just having slightly different sort of 'giggles' at the moment....both youngsters are having their first season so their 'play' is more of sisterly love action ;):rolleyes::D

You are very very wise, and though it's really hard for you, it is the best thing for all of your dogs. That kind of tension as you know can cause some nuclear fallout with all. Then you risk having a bloodbath if all pile into the fray.

You already know all this - I'm simply backing you up. You are clever, you are good, you are kind, you have no illusions, you know terriers. This can happen with any breed/type, but it'll happen faster with terriers.

Go and have some wine or cake or chocolate or all of them. By doing what you have done, brave person, you have saved a lot of grief.

I am so sad to hear your news about the falling out:(Wine, cake and chocolate sound like good therapy!... A tough decision had to be made and as a dog guardian you got the difficult job. It sounds like the perfect home was there waiting for Eva, how could they not fall for a face like hers:) I expect she'll have them wrapped around her little paws already! Thinking of you though @Finsky, no matter how happy Eva may be and knowing you made the right decision, a painful time nonetheless...

Thank you for kind words....yes, all the remedies have been put in good use and they work too...though wine is not 'cough' strong enough stuff...:D
There was always a chance that the pack won't be success so I've been on a look out from day one any signs of troubles developing. We knew Eva was a 'spirited' one and she was always a little bit question mark, hence we took it very slowly when introducing her to all the pups but for our delight she was always very good and accepted them well. Admitedly I didn't expect her relationship with Iida to become a issue...the were getting on so well but I suppose Iida decided that now that pups came around..Eva was now a big girl and could not get away with her behaviour....somebody just didn't want to grow up without putting up a fight :rolleyes:..that is really how I see the main issue. Even Eva is supposed to be half a Lakie in her mix, she certainly never behaved like one at all, but more like her mad dad fox terrier Harry....same funny character through and through.

Oh I think she worked her magic with the new owners indeed..:D:D We know quite few terrier people around here and as soon we decided what needed doing...we contacted another couple who took Eva in as a relief until we find something permanent. But word went around and next day the call came that she was wanted to fill the empty place in a dogless household....and what is best they are friends of a friends so we know Eva was heading to good place. She worked her magic already in the first night in the temporary arrangement....they would have taken her if she would have been much older dog...being elderly couple they didn't dare to take her on at this late of their life.
I can't wait to see Eva on Friday when I drop off her papers etc. It will then give me the final peace of mind to actually see that all is well.

Nice pictures. At first glance I thought that the rat was real, it flustered me a little bit, but after looking a bit better I saw it was just a toy. I was very relieved :)

Great pic, they are a lovely bunch!
How's aunty Eva settled in her new home? Enjoying the peace I should imagine:D

Oh Eva is very happy girl. I've phoned once since my last visit and as everything is so settled with her...I've not bothered her and her owner anymore than that. I just upset myself by ringing her up. Instead I keep my attention with these 'hoodlums' :rolleyes::D
