I suppose once you start looking these cases are widespread :(

She is such a pretty girl and looks in good condition, and the owners seems to know what and when she was mated

Goodness knows what people are thinking of, mating then selling these beautiful creatures :(

It's heart breaking it really is and she is so beautiful :( :( :(

Where's Jane.....

He knows what she's been mated to but not

her exact age. She's looks like my Sada :(

I had to do a double take  She is the double of my Little Lilly. I only hope she is bigger than Lilly because Collie x Greyhound pups would probably kill her. Oh I am so angry

Can anyone do anything? I can collect her although, as we know, she isn't the first and she won't be the last as people seem to think it perfectly reasonable to sell bitches in this condition.

:( oh how sad. im guessing theyre selling an in pup bitch to make more money from her than if she werent without wanting to deal with a litter themselves  hope she and her pups will be alright, this is such a vulnerable time for any girl, without being in this situation

Have PM'ed Jane

Hopefully I can be of help this time. OH will go mad :nuke:

Honestly...just how terrible are these people..and how can they do this.....

shes such a pretty girl too...and looks in good condition

Thank you for drawing our attention to this but Jane and I have discussed it and at this point in time we don't think Scruples can help. This littlle girls situation is very different to Molly's ... sadly it is not so very unusual in the world of working whippets/lurchers for bitches in whelp to change hands and there is no reason to suppose that this little lady needs rescuing in the strictest sense of the word. Molly on the other hand was advertised with just days to go before whelping by someone genuinely unable to keep her and she needed to be assured of a safe place to give birth.

As a small rescue with limited resources, if we were to buy in every bitch in whelp advertised amongst the working whippet fraternity we would soon be overwhelmed and would risk subsequently being unable to rescue a whippet "in need of care and attention by reason of maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage", as per our mission statement. We may of course think that to sell a bitch in whelp qualifies as ill usage but to some it is perfectly commonplace and it is more than probable that this bitch, who as Janis says seems to be in excellent condition, will be safely settled in a new and hopefully caring home well before she whelps, an event still some weeks away. Of course were her circumstances to change, and her rescue to become as imperative as Molly's was, we would do what we could for her, just as we have for Molly

In an ideal world every dog would have an ideal life but sadly this world is far from ideal and one of the hardest things we Scruples trustees will have to do is make decisions about who we rescue and who we don't. Maybe as we grow we can do more but for now please understand that we do have to draw the line somewhere

Here's wishing this little girl and her lurcher babies a healthy, happy future :luck:

Annie and Jane (who don't really understand how people can do this either :( )

 i agree 100%

if you look your always going to find "another" and as you say Molly had days to go...very wise choice by the scruples team if you ask me

I am going to put some backs up here, but I am not one to mince my words.

When Molly was advertised, it was technically with 3 weeks of pregnancy left. How far on she was was not evident untill the rescue had been planned and she had been seen and collected. If Molly's owner was so concerned about her welfare and genuinely unable to keep her then he should have been happy to give her to Scruples. This bitch has 4 - 5 weeks to go and is expecting puppies that will be a lot harder to rehome and may prove very difficuilt to birth being a Greyhound x Colllie father.

My vet has agreed that obtaining her and aborting the puppies by injections would be the best option. It may sound cruel and heartless but it is pracitcal and makes sense for the bitch. I can hear the shouts of condemation from here but I am practical as well as a whippet lover. If there are so many bitches in this situation and they can be helped in any way including pregnancy termination, neutered eventually and found loving family homes surely we should try to do our best

I am surprised that Scruples can be so selective.

She is a whippet bitch, and if she is gotten to a vet fast enough she can be saved from going through this and a very possible 'C' section and be found a lovely home. It does not have the desperation of Molly's rescue or the high profile but I am really surprised Scruples is unwilling to help. I have offered to buy her and pay all vet costs and adopt her or have my very experienced frend adopt her, but that is not enough. I am still waiting for the owner to contact me about this girl. I may post again asking for transport help to Scotland if things work out. I will also contact JR Whippet Rescue and see if they are willing to help.

I often feel so angry  (and sad :( ) at what some members of the so-called 'Human Race' are prepared to do to make money.

I try to think of this saying that I heard somewhere "You cannot carpet the whole world, but you can wear slippers!"

I just hope that someone who might be looking for an adult whippet will be prepared to buy this lovely girl and give her a forever home, and also decide (with veterinary advice) what the best course of action is for her. :luck:

Sadly I cannot have any more dogs (OH keeps me in check) but I could help with transport on occasions.

working in rescue for year I can tell you all rescues are short of cash and have to prioraties to what they consider the most urgent case. if your so distresed about this dog you have a few options you could phone round other rescues and see if they will get her or faling that get her and take her to your own vet. you cannot expect a small rescue like scruples to take on another pregant bitch when they will have to hold back funds for mollys litter incase she has any problems. you will probaly fined the sighthound resuces would have more chance taking the other bitch as shes not having whippet puppys and most whippet rescues only deal with pedigre whippets there check under greyhound or sighthound rescue save your anger for the people with the dogs not the rescues who are doing the best job they can with little funds

As I said in my post.

I am willing to pay for her, deal with her pregnancy and her vets bills and give her a home. My problem is that she is in Merseyside and I am in Scotland. I had just hoped for some logistical support. Perhaps Jane and Anne misunderstood my request in my PM.

I am still waiting for the owner to switch their phone on
