Update On Sienna

I have taken her to the orthopedic specialist hospital today she will stay there until next week

The xray shows there is some abnormailty in the neck bones but the orthopedic surgeon said the prognosis is good and because of her age and fitness hopefully she wont need surgery,he wants to avoid anything too invasive at the moment,its just time now :)

She will be having round the clock care and starting tomorrow once she has settled in she will be having intensive hydrotherapy and physio treatment, we can visit her and the surgeon and vets were really lovely :)

I don't want to think about what this is costing but if anyone wants a cleaning lady I am looking for a second job (w00t) (w00t) (w00t)

If it makes her well its money well spent :huggles:

That sounds like the best place for her. I was thinking she'd need hydro to help get her moving again. This is going to be difficult for you Lesley, being parted from her, but at least you know she's getting the best professional care! :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: Wish I could help in some way but the best I can do is send lots of love. :thumbsup:

Thankyou both your support and that of others has helped me so much this has been a terrible weekend but there is a light at the end of the tunnel now :sweating:

She lifted her leg a little in the car so I could get my hand in to tickle her belly I could have cried :b

lesley, my heart goes out to you x

we are thinking of you all lots and Miss Mabel sends you all her puppy licks to help keep you going through this horrid time.

we are here if you need us for anything..... once all this is over you should come up for a holiday by the sea x

they say sea air is great to help recovery :)

we will spoil you all rotten - but there will be an extra comfy bed for Sienna :wub:

Lesley, have you got insurance, its gonna cost a bob or two yes, go look at the members list, ok all may not be active, but theres enough folks on here at times like this to stick there hands in there pockets, aint that what k9s all about, i no i am

Pleased to hear that there has been some improvement - I'm sure that slowly she will make little improvements like this each day.

It certainly sounds like she will be in the best place; with vets that you like and trust.

Her half brothers and sister here are keeping their paws crossed for more good news :huggles:
 
Hooray for some good news :D So relieved to hear that it's a positive prognosis. :luck: to Sienna. She'll have to get herself a paper round to help towards her vets bill after this :p worth every penny to have her home and well.

Hannah is off line (w00t) but she's asked me to send her love and best wishes - her old whippet Joanna was paralysed in a racing accident when she was much younger and made a great recovery.
 
Glad to hear she is progressing in the right direction. I will keep my fingers crossed that the improvement continues :luck:

Her care will be covered by the insurance if that's what the vet has recommended :thumbsup:

Oh Lesley, that sounds like really positive news :thumbsup: you have both been on my mind all day :sweating: I know it's been a horrid weekend for you all but there is some light at the end of the tunnel now :)

So glad to hear Sienna is impoving Lesley. She will soon be home with you all. :))

What lovely,lovely people you are :huggles: no we don't have insurance we did away with it when numbers went up and said if anything like this ever happened we would deal with it as it came, which we will :thumbsup: and honestley we are fine we have told them whatever she needs she gets, she is worth every penny,we may end up a bit poorer finacially for the experience but god it will be so worth it to see her walking again :sweating: :huggles: :huggles:

The surgeon explained everything to us really well and made us so comfortable in the fact that she will get the best care, he is quite experience with this kind of injury especially on sighthounds, he went through the xray with us and from what he said some of the pieces inside her vertabrae have exploded on impact, which in an older dog could leave residue splints floating in the spinal cord but because she is younger and supple hers are more af a gel so should have hopefully just gone into nothing sort of thing which means less likelihood of her needing surgery :thumbsup:

We will be looking at around 12 weeks may be more for her to recover fully but the vet thinks that is very possible.

He was a bit concerned at first as he thought we wanted her to come back to racing fit we told him we dont care if she never raced again which we wont anyway even if she is, as long as she has a good quality of life we will make sure she enjoys it to the full :huggles:

Look Lesley, im sure you have enough to worry about without the added expense of vet bills, thousands of members here on k9, couple of quid from each of us, well wishes all very well, im sure i speak for all k9ers here, MY HANDS IN MY POCKET
