I have also heard about garlic being a good prevantative for fleas but I have read several times that garlic can be bad for dogs (even in a health mag I read yesterday it said 'don't give garlic to animals as it can be toxic'). I would like to get this clarified as I don't like using chemicals...
I'm glad that all the tests came back normal for Blue. I am no medical expert but I did study arthritis quite in depth whilst training to be a reflexologist and I do remember there is a type of arthritis kids can get that can cause fever, lethargy, swollen glands etc. and can mimic the signs of...
Congratulations on your new addition, she's so sweet and adorable. Hope Tarka is doing well, i'm sure it will do him good to have a new little sis around.
Sounds like I have been ripped off - i've always been with Petplan for Merlin but I pay £34 a month just for him and he's not even 2 yet. The excess is £90 and it has lifetime illness cover. I've been meaning to shop around especially now I have 2, must admit Willow isn't insured at the moment...
It's amazing some of the great walks you find on your own doorstep once you've got a dog. We often go out that way to Burnham on Crouch so perhaps we will have to check out Heybridge, it looks lovely.
Well Merlin seemed to learn his lesson and won't go anywhere near them after his experience, he now just barks at horses (or anything bigger than a dog) from afar!
I'm glad you mentioned that because some of the information I came across mentioned that they also believe the damage could indeed be cumulative.
I also found that nearly every one of my friends who has a dog didn't know about the danger of grapes and raisins, a friend I told yesterday said to...
I know most K9ers know about the dangers of grapes and raisins - I only found out myself due to a post on here after someone sadly lost their dog due to raisin toxicity, but I thought it can’t hurt to mention it again after my unfortunate raisin experience on Monday & share with you the...
Sorry to hear about Blue. Merlin got kicked by a horse last year, he had a cut under his jaw but nothing else - he was so lucky! He was a bit shocked, I gave him some Bach Rescue Remedy for the shock. Hope he's ok.
They are Ok now thanks Anita but I had a horrible night worrying about them both, I think i'll start a new thread about it just to relay some of the information i've found out on raisin toxicity - i'm sure a lot of people know about it but there may be some that don't know or are not aware of...

my dogs have done the same with no ill effects they will generally vomit up anything that is harmful to them but best to keep an eye on them just in case
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well Willows just vomitted everywhere so he could be the raisin raider, then again he has just stuffed lots of...
Merlin loves the beach too, he goes nuts on the sand - I better not show him your pics, he came from Somerset so might be a bit peeved he's been made to live in Essex! Willow hasn't been to the beach yet but we will hopefully be heading off to Suffolk next month and hoping to get to Cornwall...
Great photo's Kell, I loved the one of the whippet chasing the other dog - I can never seem to get running shots, they always come out blurry. Beach is nice too, where was you?
Does any body know how many raisins a dog would need to eat before they are dangerous?
I'm not sure if it was Merlin and/or Willow but one or both of them have just raided my bag (which I accidently left on the floor when I got home from work) and a small bag containing mixed nuts/dried fruit...
Merlins greeting is to put his front legs around my neck and put his head of my shoulder for a cuddle, if I ask for a kiss he pushes his nose against my nose. Willow is a licker (and a biter at the moment too) but he will now do the kiss with the noses too.
