100 St Bernards Abandoned

What a terribly hard job to rehome 98 dogs of that size - poor buggers :(

poor babies

hope they find there forever homes

R I P the two that didn't make it

Sadly until the owner is found I suspect they can't be rehomed, I guess the RSPCA will have to support them for the time being. I suppose it's possible the owner is ill somewhere or had an accident?

If it ends up going to court as a cruelty case unless the owner signs them over voluntarily nothing can be done to rehome them until the court case is finished, which can be months or even years sometimes :(

Clearly something must have happened to the owner of the dogs but the ironic part of this is that she is a KENNEL CLUB ACCREDITED BREEDER.

What a nonsense that scheme is.

how bizzare  how the hell do you look after 100 dogs of your own anyway :sweating: :sweating:

i did find this link where are her staff here

Imagine how much food 100 St Bernards would have needed (when they were being fed and cared for) (w00t) . (w00t) I can't even begin to comprehend the cost of keeping these dogs. Very sad for all concerned, but for goodness sake....100 dogs of that size (or any breed for that matter!). :(

Surely if she had mental health problems and wasn't coping she could have asked for help, not b*ggered to to Tenerife and left the dogs unattended? It also sounds as though they had been neglected for much longer than the few days she was away judging by the health problems they were suffering.

I wish I thought she'd get a meaningful sentence, but I doubt it somehow :(

.......... the defence lawyer said it was completely out of character!!!!

I DON'T THINK SO ......... to show disregard to that extent is a personality defect that has existed in this moron since birth

I sincerely hope that they lock her up, throw away the key and keep her in her own urine and faeces, preferably without food and water!!!!!

If I remember correctly it was a gentleman who had his dog boarding at the kennels who raised the alarm after he had had to break in. How can you possibly run a boarding establishment and not either be there in person or be certain a member of your staff in on the premises at all times. Those poor dogs.

Collis was on holiday in Tenerife and the kennels were locked up and unstaffed.

These problems come from her bankruptcy and lack of financial ability to cope with what she was doing

how on earth can you afford a holiday if you are bankrupt???

im sorry but there is no excuse for not caring for them, no excuse for abandoning them, and no excuse for having sooo many in the first place.

urgh, some people make me feel physically sick! but until punishment reflects the crime, whats to discourage ones like this? what judges etc dont seem to realise is that people who can show that level of neglect and/or cruelty arent likely to leave it at animals, so leniency will only make them think that behavior is 'acceptable'. aside from how horrific crimes against the animals actually are, which is enough to make most of us see red, how many people who commit them progress to hurting humans? how many kids out there who are shooting cats with crossbows, blowing up small dogs with fireworks will end up commiting violence against weaker members of society? how many people who just thoughtlessly abandon their pets or other peoples pets will in turn think it acceptable to abandon their kids, be it for an evening to go out on the lash, or leaving them to fend for themselves while they go off for days?

abuse is abuse and neglect is neglect, just because the victim/s arent human doesnt make the offence any 'better', and its time this was reflected and enforced across the board :(

far too good for them! if there is a legitimate reason for things going wrong, there is help available (or would be if jackasses like the above didnt flood rescue and take all resources!) think at the end of the day, the whole system needs starting again from scratch. bringing kids up right, making parents take responsibility for themselves and their offspring, giving police, teachers and all authority figures their power back, and reforming the justice system. we have become a nation of people who pass the buck thanks to human rights laws etc :'(
