Am I the only one that went to a show in Okay Cartman,
Just for you .... the Skyeway open bitch got BOB in Melbourne at LKA on Saturday... sorry don't have the catalogue at work but am sure you'll know who I'm talking about.

I had a lovely day. Three firsts and a second out of the four dogs was rather nice.

You can buy an extra 3 dagwood dogs for the money that a catalogue will cost you. Mrs Oakway( congrats on the black pups win) may have a marked catalogue.

A marked catalogue????????????????????

Well I brought three catalogues yesterday morning.

There is not ONE in this house at the moment. It appears that they have all disapeared from my car. I went to get one from the car last night, and not one to be found. (I thought I might like to have a read). I shall try to retrieve one tomorrow.

The overall entries are way down this year.

Whippet entries way down maybe only thirty five entered.

Not a lot abs.

As Whippets were scheduled last, I did not expect to got on before lunch.

The prior entries were so small that Whippets were over before Lunch.

Congratulations to all that did well.

Ridgies were half their normal entry - way down also. Maybe high petrol costs/interest rates etc... might be starting to bite a bit. Couldn't be the judges could it?

Yes,

I believe that it may be an accumulation of all. Judges have a big bearing on the number of entries. The facilities at the Royal also have a big bearing on the entries........or should I say the lack of................

Gone are the days when we hopped in the car and drove 12 hours to a show. Personally, I don't think petrol is the major contributing factor. The choice of judge is in my opinion, the biggest factor in deciding whether you go to a show or not, and if the judge is right, the entry reflects that. As we all know, the world is a very small place now with the internet!

Regardless of who is judging, I've been to Brisbane Royal 3 times in 30 years. Think that sums up the facilities.

An improvement that the Bris Royal could make would be judging group and puppy from 1st to 4th like they do in lots of places. The way things are at present means that the runner up of breed and the runner up puppy of breed need to go back to the show on Saturday to go into the ring only in the case of the whippet winning best in Group or puppy in group- the odds of them the winning res in group(gr2nd) or res puppy in group are pretty slim. This means that Lana- with her RUBOB bitch has to stay in brisbane for an extra 6 or so days, go to the show, be locked in nearly all day and in every likelyhood not even go into the ring with her girl.

Peoples lives are far too busy these days for that sort of rot :rant:
