I have recently sat and passed my breeders accreditation test. After a bit of to-ing and fro-ing with the VCA, over my prefix name, I have taken up a retired prefix. Beau, Phoebe and I are now Jenizall.

Am now working on the website, so hopefully it won't be too much longer before that is up and running.

Next step is to start arriving at shows a little earlier and paying a lot more attention to the DOGS as they go round the ring. No hurry though, as Phoebe is still much to young to be dating :)

What's VCA stand for? And when you get a affix do you add it to the names your dogs already have? You have to pass a test to be a breeder? Might be stupid questions but very different from here in North America, or mabey I just don't know enough. I think a breeders test is a FABULOUS idea!

No

You have to pass a test to be a breeder?

In Australia it depends on what State you live in. I am not sure about the other states. I think NSW, Qld and WA have their own versions, and SA & Tas haven't started a program as yet.  Here in Victoria, I had 93 questions to answer on 8 subjects.  I had to get a minimum score  of 70% right, and a minimum score of 70% in each subject.

The eight subjects were:

VCA Code of Practice Hereditary Diseases

Why Breed?

Legal Aspects

VCA Code of Ethics

Basic Genetics & Hereditary Disease (w00t)

Mating & Whelping

Raising & Socializing

Breeder Responsibilities

Might be stupid questions but very different from here in North America, or mabey I just don't know enough.  I think a breeders test is a FABULOUS idea!

I agree, I think it is a great idea, I didn't mind one little bit

Karen :)

I have been busy, and my website is now out there in cyberspace. I still have a bit of work to do, but like my whippets, it is a work in progress.
