My Dylan had what looked like this on his lower front paw when he was about 14 months old. It got bigger over time. We were advised to have it removed and tested - it was a cyst type thing and the vet was sure it wasn't 'nasty' but checked it anyway. He did say that younger dogs are prone to these things. We got it removed and apart from keeping Dylan away from the bandage and sock on his foot(!) all was well in the end. I am sure this will be too - it looks just like it. Hope this helps?

I'd get the vet to look at it. Touch it to see if it moves around under the skin - its more likely to be just a cyst if it moves around - this will also tell you if it hurts so you can guage his reaction towards the vet - who will have to fiddle with it

:huggles:

Could be a cyst....could be a bite ..has Blue been in any long grass? anywhere.

Oscar had a lot of the same looking spots on him a year ago...but there were lots of them ...I bathed with a few drops of lavendar and they eventually went away, but that does look slightly larger to me... maybe let the vet have a look just in case.

Get it checked by a competent vet who's good at dermatology (skins). Could be a cyst, could be a bite - but it could also be a mast cell tumour which is common in young dogs and wants to be removed asap. If it were my dog, I'd have it taken off by the best surgeon I could find - and given that I used to be a veterinary anaesthetist, that'd be one of my ex-colleagues.

good luck

it looks like a spot at first but dogs don't get spots,

but I think its more like a cyst, I think like the others said best get it checked,

aww poor blue.......hope he's ok hun xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It may be a hysteocytoma my whippet had one last year.I was told by my vet they usually occur in younger dogs and go away eventually(8 weeks).I chose to have it removed as she was scratching at it and it was looking infected. There is a thread on general discussion about this just type in hysteocytoma and do a search. :luck:

Yes I agree  on the thread is a picture of Spry when she had hers removed they are quite common but do grow thats why it is advised they are removed, she was fine

The vet said they aren't usually painful and Spry didnt bother if we touched it.
