Oh had the dogs out this morning and a wasp stung Archie right on the top of his hind leg where the muscle is

Hes looking a bit sorry for himself and keeps trying to bite his leg.. :huggles:

Ive put some vinegar on it...and he seems ok in himself.

Any other tips please?? I have looked in FAQ...can I put some Anti-sting cream on...will this be ok please.

Awww, poor Archie :huggles: :huggles:

Those wasps are horrid right now - got so sleepy and much more aggressive  I can't stand them (w00t)

You should be fine to put a topical treatment like anti sting onto it, Janis. His own immune system should sort the sting out but just keep an eye on his breathing rate as any unusual reaction to stings will generally show up by an increase in respiration rate and a severe reaction can make breathing difficult due to swelling of the airways (similar to an allergic reaction to pollen)

Don't get worried by this, by the way!! It's highly unlikely to happen but I reckon it's always best to know what to look for so that you have peace of mind :) :huggles:

Thanks Jane...I had read the section too on allergic reaction....just in case.

Im keeping my eyes on him...he just dosnt know what to do with himself just now.. :huggles:

I guess it'll irritate him for quite a while :(

Have you got any aloe vera gel to put on it? That's very soothing and non-toxic if he licks/bites it. I always put it on the horses if they have any rubs or bumps and cuts. And I put it on me if I get stung by nettles (w00t)

 Yes I have both aloe vera and Lavender too thankfully..

thanks Jane.

Sorry to hear about Archie :( , hope he is ok :huggles: and feeling better soon

I have pm'd you

Lavender oil will sooth the sting

Poor Archie...............lots of hugs and get better soon :huggles: :huggles:

Poor Archie :huggles: I would put Aloe Vera on too.

Dolly and Mojo always get stung, they are too nosy!! I have to give them a low dose of piriton (human hayfever tablet) as they always get stung on the nose and it swells up, reccomend aloe vera gel aswell to soothe!! Poor little Archie.

Self same thing happened ot our Meg some years ago -= her face swelled up something terrible - she looked like she'd gond 10 rounds with a 'boxer'. Vet sorted her out; but Meg didnt learn her lesson she STILL tries catching wasps

Anyway thanks folks hes been a bit subdued all day but is livening up as we speak...
