do they have no animal rights in this sickos country?

Unfortunately no. From what I read when he did this before there is a large population of feral dogs, and it isn't uncommon to see sick, dying or dead dogs on the streets. The artist's point is that people ignore this, and by bringing a dog who is sick and dying anyway into his exhibition and making people watch the process he is drawing attention to something they just walk past outside.

That said, I don't agree with what he is doing at all, I'm sure he's going for shock value and publicity for his own ends. :(

I found it even more shocking that people were able to visit the exhibition with this poor dog slowly dying of hunger and thirst. I'd have been fighting with the security guards to get it out of there and end it's suffering

That's the bit that shocked me the most - not just that the "artist" could do it but that the gallery owners allowed him to and that no visitors to the gallery stopped it. Did they all have had some sense of deferred responsibility the way soldiers who rape and murder civilians in a war do. I find it totally bizarre.

Thats what i cant believe, surely there are some animal lovers or people that run charities to help animals there , surely they must of got wind that this was happening, why didnt anyone go down there and get the dog out??? If that happened here ( not that it would of course) they'd be riots at the 'gallery'! I for one would be there! Signed the petition anyway. When is this next exbition meant to be happening?

:) i sign it i like to get hold of so call artist for 5 minutes

I find this whole thing very sick, and quite amazing that it is allowed to happen :(

As one of those 'arty type' people, I understand that it isn't art's job necessarily to be pretty and safe - sometimes it is provoking and gritty in order to convey its message; in this case, possibly, that people are ignoring similar suffering on a daily basis.

There are many thousands of stray dogs who die from starvation or untreated injury every year - a plight I feel worthy of attention.

And so I would like to unveil my new installation piece, entitled

COMPASSION

Tied to the wall, with access to a comfy bed, on one side of a gallery is a scruffy street dog. Above its head is a plaque inscribed with the words " I am a dog"

Tied to the wall, with access to a comfy bed, on the other side of a gallery is a man. Above his head is a plaque bearing the inscription "I am Guillermo Vargas Habacuc. I believe it is acceptable for an animal to be slowly starved to death in order to make a point, and in order to make art"

Positioned between them is a state of the art cooker.

Once each day a chef arrives. He proceeds to cook a big juicy steak and set it upon a big white plate.

Votes gathered via a website determine which of the two has the brimming plate set down in front of them.

I believe this important piece of art is well worth establishment funding, and am expecting Guillermo Vargas Habacuc to volunteer his input to the project.

Shall I include a link to the online voting system here? 8)

ive signed it,how can they call that art

I cant believe this guy is still doing this! I thought after the last time someone would have put a stop to it. There was outrage about what he was doing then but it seems these petitions dont make a blind bit of difference.
