After Archie got injured on the barbed wire I wrote to our local Parish Council asking them why our local dog walk had barbed wire around the dog walk.. and what purpose did it serve.

Anyway the good news is the fence has now been removed....NOT as a direct result of my letter I might add....but they had already had some complaints also, and they are going to revamp the dog walk area which involves putting up a new and better fence.

So its goodbye to the barbed wire there forever.  Thank goodness.

That's really good Janis - I hate barbed wire too especially as Jonah is a wall jumper - I always think he might progress into trying to jump barbed wire fences. :sweating:

Ive seen aweful injuries on horses too, dogs and children....its horrible stuff ..wants banning..

Poor Archie was having fun when it happened too. :(

good news janis, least you wont be worried in future of the boys getting hurt again

Trouble is Trish, its all over the place up here round the sheep fields etc.

Has anyone seen a sheep tangled in this stuff either, its ridiculous in this day and age.

Hooray!

I'd like to see it banned too, poor Supe has come a cropper to barbed wire too, and we found a deer tangled in it too. I cant understand why anyone uses it.

Nearly all the fields I walk in have the single strand used for cattle around the devon banks :(

It's just at the height where the girls can either go under or over it and I literally DREAD them trying to jump over it and catching themselves on it (w00t)

Ella has done it once but she is the worst culprit for going up on the devon banks and I am hoping she has learnt that barbed wire hurts  Luckily Jinny doesn't seem to want to play on the banks ..... she's much more of a lady

Nice to hear that your Parish are going some way towards getting rid of the menace :D

Well done for writing to the Parish Council, Janis. Glad to hear the barbed wire has now been removed. :)
