hey all,

its taken me a few hours to sit down and right this as i have been very upset.

i took little D to sutton park ( u will know the one kris) about 5pm, i had my mp3 on as always and lucky for me there was a gang of kids so i had kept dana on the lead till we passed as she dont like loud lads. we hadnt been in the park long when i saw what looked very much like a pitbull come thundering over to a little old lady and her jrt cross, cos i had my mp3 on i didnt hear anything at first and thougth they were playing, till the pitbull chased the little jack across the park.. then a road before pinning it to the ground and raggedit!!!!

it let go of the little dog and started to run off but the little dog tried to get back to its owner, the pitbull saw it move and went back and attacked it again. the poor woman was frantic trying to get it off her dog but the bastard chav that owened it thought it was soooooo funny!!!

an older guy was passing me at the time with a very old lab and i dont think he had seen what had just happened cos it was on the far side of the park, he said to me ive just seen a woman, she told me her dog had just been attacked by a white pitbull so keep ur eye out, i replyed that one over there is it? its just had another dog. as we were talking about getting out of the park the pitbull ran 100 yards across the field and attacked a small mongrel that was on the lead, its owner was another old man and he was franticlly try to pick his dog up and keep the f***ing bull off it.

i felt terrible but all i could do was pickup dana and run with her, she is so small and she might have more balls than brains but she wouldnt of stood a chance, as i got avross the main road i heard another dog start screaming, im sure it was that old lab cos the bull was making its way towards us the last time i saw it.

as soon as i got home i phoned the police and they said someone would be out within the hour but its prob of gone by then.

i could kill the bastard chav that owns it, all he did was laugh and take a swing a one of the gang of lads that tried to help the old man.

ive always been judge the deed not the breed but that dogs wants shooting and its owner along with it, im so glad i got dana out of there without being hurt but i feel so sick when i think of the 4 (at least) that this bull attacked :(

i dont think i will ever forget the screams :( :(

oh my god thats a horrible story can belive that anyone could let their dog do that

i hope the police catch them.

glad you got your girl out safe

You poor thing!! you must have been really scared i know i would have been frantic

These Feckers need shooting theres no doubt about it

That is awful...!

There are some dog stop sprays/alarms on the market...it is good idea to carry one on walks...I never had to use one, but I am pretty sure any aggressive dog would back up if I use it.

Hope all the poor doggies were ok...

...and this is all human error again!

These "primitive" humans should be band from keeping any dogs...!

The problem with that is what would the owner of the dog

do if you sprayed his dog.............or is there a spray for

idiot owners ;)

The older I get, the more upset I become at what is happening in this country :(

What on earth is a delinquent moron like that doing with a dog in the first place?

I can only hope that the poor dogs that were attacked aren't hurt badly :(

So glad you got Dana away, an attack on a little whippie doesn't bear thinking about

:(

thats horrible.

unfortunatly even how these kind of dogs are brought up they still have a instinct of attack. :( but owners like that need locking up

My friend had to have an English Bull terrier put down last month, she rescued him off a work mate and the poor dog had already been rehomed 3 times before hand she thought living on a farm, and coreect training might bring him round, but it ended up grabbing hold of her other two dogs and she had a hard time controlling his behavior after 1year of struggling and having him muzzeled he did it again and she and to have him PTS :( but with having kids about etc she couldnt keep him. It only makes me think if a good owner had him in the first place and socialised him well would this dog still be alive??

and on another story my dad was once driving past a park and a PitBull Terrier was killing a Jack russ who was with his old owner (who incidently was crying his eyes out), everyone was stood back watching, even a police man! my dad pulled over and took the lead off the terrier and chocked the pitbull :( :( , My dad is a true animal lover and it squashed his heart to have to do this, but in the end it let go of the russel and he did survive :) , not sure what happened to the other dog.

These dogs were bred for a purpose, and the purpose is no longer used. They are def not pets. I think we should bring in licenses for dogs that can do damage, im sure any responcible owner wouldnt mind at all having a license to protect the breed against these nutters who want a dog as a statement of "how hard they are"

Thank goodness you and Dana are safe, :huggles: I would definatley take my mobile with me if you have one and get some pics and ring the police while you were there(discreetley dont put yourself in any danger) these people want stringing up praying on defenseless old people and their pets.

I bet they wouldn't have tackled a 6 foot bloke with a Rottie the cowards

oh Em im so sorry.poor you and poor Dana.i hope youre not too much in shock this is awful. :( bloody police.im sick to death of meeting up with chavs with staffy crosses and pit bulls.its ridiculous.they have no control over them and think its funny when their dog attacks an OPS's little dog i know cos ive seen it before.i hope the other owners complain to the police.they have been cracking down on pits in our area after ellie lawrenson was killed(by the way her gran jackie simpson who was the woman who was looking after her the night the pit bull killed her,was arrested and charged with assault last week after going to a womans flat in prescot with a baseball bat and smashing the womans car to bits!nice lady eh?) hopefully the police will make some enquiries and find this lad and his dog.he opught to be arrested and the dog pts as its obviously a danger to the public.you take care when you take little Dana out, dont take any risks if you see this idiot again phone the police and tell them.hope youre ok hun, hugs to you both.( i know why you picked up Dana and ran off, id have done the same as our Razzle is just like her ,straight in and dont back off) :- "

id ring up the local paper too and tell them about this dog attacking everything in sight it will make the police take action to find the guy and will warn owners to take care in that area also a neighbour might see the story and grass him up to the police cos im sure if i was a neighbour of this idiots id want this dog taking off the streets ;)

storys like this really annoy me i had my whippet wilf attacked by a pit bull cross i8 months ago it made a right mess of him if it hadnt been for my other whippet misty slipping her lead and taking the bastard on a chase it could not win both wilf , misty, and my other whippet gypsy would have no doubt been fatally injured. wilf was lucky his injury healed but psycologically my dogs have never recovered because if i am on a walk with them and they see another large dog they all start to bark like crazy. also the tosser who owned the dog never paid me a penny in vet bills  in the end i had to go to the council with a letter telling them of what happened and photos of the wounds plus names of witnesses one of them a postman refused to deliver post to the flts were the mutt lived . eventually they had the animal removed as i also said it was a danger to children and adults. the police did not help one bit as they said it was a dog on dog attack   you must not stop at the police report this to your local council as next time this bastard and his dog may fatally injure a young child on the park   the dog i had removed was brought back to the flats for a week by the women who owned it while her friend who was looking after the dog was on holiday in this time it savaged a jack russell doing a thousand pounds worth of damage it broke the dogs jaw an other injuries  i reported this to the dog warden who got in touch with the relevent people to have the dog removed. and guess what about 4 weeks ago i saw the same women with a rotti e pup i await the next instalment.

Oh no, how awful, I must admit I live in anxieties about this sort of stuff every time I go out alone with dogs. I haven't noticed any pit bulls round here (I think) but we have plenty of chav idiots who don't care what their dogs do; their staffies and boxers are not under control, and I don't go near our Country Park anymore because there are a pair of boxer dogs (believed to be local) who have attacked dogs several times. (And yes, I know it's the deed, not the breed; the only breed I have a problem with is the irresponsible owner).

Also we have a woman who doesn't actually live in this seaside town but her brother does and she visits frequently from Sheffield; her dogs have attacked other dogs, both outside her brother's house, (they rushed out of her brother's garden on to a main road to attack an on-lead dog!) and on the local Country Park, and she denied one attack on a friend's rescue Galgo (which needed £130 of vet treatment!!) but she couldn't deny the attack on another friend's dog, there were too many witnesses. Luckily we know her car registration number and don't go anywhere where we see her car, now.

I always take my phone with me on walks in case I have to ring the police or anything ... isn't it awful when we can't just relax and have a nice walk with our dogs/kids etc?

I am so worried about idiots out there that have no control on there dogs that I cannot bring myself to use an mp3 or the like. I feel I might not be as aware as I need to be of who’s about.

I don’t condemn anyone with an mp3 quite the opposite, I resent people with no control that take away our freedom of choice. Because they cant or wont control their dogs.

I’m afraid after having one of my dogs stitched up last year (after it was attacked), that I feel I need to be so aware I cant deal with anything that distracts my attention.

I feel particularly vulnerable at the weekend, when you get part-time dog walkers about, they never walk their dogs in the week (they presumably get someone else to while they are at work) as a result they don’t know their dogs very well and are an accident waiting to happen.

I also find solo dogs don’t mature and know correct the pack dog etiquette when approaching a pack. and some owners understand it even less

I hope all of the dogs that were attacked are ok and the idiots with the pit bull are tracked down and taken to task.

It's not even just the young owners of bull breeds that need their heads looking at  .

I took my four down the woods and let them all off lead, they behave fabulously when they spot another dog, turning back and running to heel without needing to be asked.

We rounded a corner where the woods meet the field and two older guys were walking two dogs off lead, they were heading down the path about 200yds ahead so we followed, I kept the dogs at least 150yds away from them but the bull x kept stopping and looking back. My dogs made no attempt to approach but what did I get.

He shouted back up to me "can you put your dogs on leads, I have a bull x pup." I kept my tongue but felt like shouting back, "Why the f**k should I put my four well behaved dogs on leads, if you can't control YOUR dog then f**king well put that on a lead until you can be bothered to train it properly"

Moron, he acted as though having a bull x gave him the right to walk it free and untrained whilst owners of well behaved pets should lead their dogs up and get out of the way !!!

this is just awful. 12 months ago I had a staffie try to attack 3 12 week old italian puppies - luckily it didnt get them thank god. but they were very upset for weeks.

you are dead right - these people want shooting.

I always carry a pot of pepper in my pocket now when i am out walking and i would protect my dogs at any cost - itd have to get me first. I understand completely why you took your dog away as quick as you could - your priority has to lie with your own dog first.

I moved out of the town a few years back into a very rural village partly because there was nowhere safe to walk the dogs any more, with staffies/staffie xs at every turn and even in my village i came up against the staff i have already mentioned - it flew out of its garden at the puppies and was absolutely intent on having them. It belonged to a decent family as well. I have to say that although teh owners have normally got a lot to answer for when it comes to aggressive dogs, i think there is a certain element of inherent instinct of attack in some of these breeds as well - they may be " good with children" etc but they are often very unpredictable with other dogs in my experience. Even at ringcraft i wont stand an italian anywhere near any of these breeds because they always seem to eyeball them and growl meancingly.

This sort of thing seems to happen with depressing frequency :(

I have to say I agree, having had a similar experience with a GSD that belonged to a very nice family, who had socialised the dog very well, and which has gone on to attack a number of other dogs subsequently. At the end of the day, we have duty to protect our dogs from the psychological and physical consequences of aggressive dogs (however they have become so), and I'm afraid I steer well clear of any breeds that I know to be difficult to socialise with other dogs.

In defense to Staffi X's, Rooney (my old lurcher) was excellent with all dogs and infact the gentlest dog ive ever had. fortunatly we brought he up correctly and always socialised him well.

Again, generally the owners fault,

and another bug bear of mine, terriers that owners think its cute cos there yappy terrier is yapping and pulling on its lead at the big dog! all it takes is one snap of the big dogs jaws, and they wont have a lil cute yappy dog anymore...... shesh!"

what is the law about muzzling dangerous breeds, surerly pit bulls, mastiffs , and certain other dangerous breeds should be muzzled in public places. i am not to sure about staffies some are really playful but can turn nasty pretty quickly i have heard of staffies causing bad injuries to animals and kids, like someone wrote earlier there is no need or place for these dogs these days esp in the wrong hands.you seem to always see the same kind of people with bulls and mastiffs.

i truly feel that some type of licence would be the only way forwards , too many lovely breeds in the wrong hands , these dogs are so powerful they are almost a lethal weapon in the wrong hands and imo there should be policed rules and regs which are upheld and some sort of aptitude test to ensure the potential owners are capable of having these types of breeds, however i feel a blanket licence would at least do something to protect against many dogs being abused etc and more powerful regs ensure all dogs have a better brighter future

all dogs should at least be basic obedience trained also, how many dogs can you think of have no true exercise? :( i feel for collie types stuck in a house 23 1/2 hrs a day and then owners wondering why they are destructive

dogs should have a asic right to have adequate exercise, warmth, food and clean water, and human love and attention, sounds simple dont it but take a walk down your street and think how many dogs dont get the most very simple basic needs :(

thanks for ur support guys, i felt such a coward running off with dana but she is only a tiny 11 year old jrt. in another situation i would of gone to help but i couldnt risk her.

ive just spoke to the poice and suprise suprise they didnt get there in time!!!!!

i have phoned the dog warden and reported it too on the answerphone, just waiting for a call back now.
