So pleased to hear its all over so to speak for you all....

Wishing Bella a very speedy recovery...and a happy life ahead with you .

Pleased to hear she have had her op and is on the mend. If she is anything like mine, they are always starving after and op!!!!! Was she in whelp?????
Yes, she was in whelp. Hence the extra care required for the next few days to prevent a bleed. I did not think that she was showing, but she certainly looks thinner now. The vet confirmed that she was not to advanced probably just under halfway. (about the only thing the seller seems to have been totally upfront about). I chose not to go into detail as there is no point in going there.

Aparently, I will have to watch for hormone problems now that she has lost the pups.

Hopefully Bella's attachment and attitude to the pack will not change over the next few months. She certianly seems attached to them and comfortable with them, she will be top dog given her weight (about 14KG) and age. That is evident already and the others are not challenging that . She is a sweet, sweet girl and I am looking forward to teaching her how to play, watching her run free and of course, having a shot at the lure. I am so lucky to have her and so relieved that her past is now behind her.

Top dog is not always about age and weight . My lurcher has always been the biggest and heaviest but has never chosen to compete aginst the others . She has always been happy to take a backseat

Gentle :huggles: for beautiful Bella and best wishes for a speedy recovery and a very happy new life.

brilliant news - good luck to you :luck: and the lovely Bella

Aw Eve, I am so glad Bella has come through the operation safely and I wish her a speedy, complication free recovery. :)) You made a difficult decision and I, for one, would be hopeless at having to home cross breed puppies. I would be terrified the homes weren't caring enough, wouldn't know what having a puppy entailed, would become bored with him/her and re-home or, worse, dump it etc etc etc - the concerns can go on forever. Let us know how she goes on and gentle loves and hugs to her.

I second this. A difficult decision and Eve has my utmost respect for making, in my opinion, the right decision for Bella and any pups that might have been. Given that the info from the seller was a little dubious (an encounter with a GSD seems to ring a bell?) I'm not a 'right to life' sort of person - more of a 'life that is right', so many dogs in rescue, sometimes with few resources, a sad reflection on our 'disposable' society? :luck: Eve and Bella

Glad all's gone relatively well with the op  Part of me hoped he'd been lying so Bella wouldn't have the concern of post-op complications like there is now but hopefully she'll be in the clear soon. :luck: I have a lot of admiration for what you've done Eve and while it's nice to receive such compliments I sincerely hope that Bella is the ultimate reward for your good deed. I hope the two of you (and the rest of the gang) have many, many happy years together. :huggles: :luck:

hope bella has had a good night, if shes anything like star was she will be upp and about like nothing has happened today xxx :huggles:

well done to you both, you did the right thing, she 's going to be a bonus to your ganag and will become a real character, good luck in recovery.

Bella is doing really well. She slept with her new pack for the 1st time last night and was really happy and settled. She is the easiest adoption I have ever had. I have to keep pinching myself to make sure that she is for real.

The vet was really happy with her progress after her check up yesterday.

I was very relieved that her dates were about right and the pups were not too far on. The scar is however huge but this was unavoidable.

She is truly a sneeky whippet and is up on the sofa without invitation every time my back is turned :D

She has not bothered her stitches at all ( I am however keeping an eye open for them tightening and bothering her).

I have my suspicions that she may be a bit harder going when she eventually gets off the lead. I do however have a tried and tested method for newbies. They are coupled to a more sedate older dog who is good with recall for a reward (probably Misty as Foxy is too old and frail to do this now). I do this for a few days untill I am happy to let the newbie run free.

After a year of Toddy (bless him  ) Bella is a walk in the park :luck:

I am just delighted that she has settled in so perfectly

That's great news Eve  She certainly sounds like a little angel

As lovely as he is, it sounds as though you deserved a break after Toddy so I'm glad you got is with Bella. o:) Good luck with the recall - my heart is always in my mouth the first time with the rescues!

what a lovely little lady she sounds - well done and long may her good behaviour last!!
