hi there, im vicky one of the nurses who looked after storm regularly all the way throughout his treatent up at gortlands, i just wanted to let u know that it was always a pleasure looking after the big guy, i always looked forward to him coming in, and we were all very upset in gortlands today, i started in the afternoon and anxiously asked if anyone had heard how his scans had gone and they told me the news, i was very upset. well i just wanted to let you know, mr.humphries that im going to miss storm, he was a wonderful dog with an owner who loved him very very much.
there have been some lovely posts on here today but this one has really got to me how thoughtful of you vicky :huggles: :huggles:

Oh John, I'm so so sorry. I have only just read this & have cried as much for Storm as I did when I had to make the same decision for my own dog 8 years ago.

Just remember,no matter what you do for your dogs in their lifetime, that final decision to let them go with dignity is the best and hardest thing you ever do.

Remember the good times John, I'm sure there were many.

Lots of love from Julie & the lurchers. :huggles:

Out of all the wonderful things you will have done for Storm over the years you have probably just given him the most special gift you had in your possession, the strength of character to let him go with dignity!

I myself had to make the same decision as you this summer following a similar path, battling against ill health for 18 months, it broke my heart , still does and always will. I worried that the time wasn't right but I was subsequently told, better a month/week too early than a day too late- only you could know when the time to make the decision had come.

Be strong in the days to come - you gave Storm the help he needed when he no longer could fight for himself. My thoughts are with you both. :huggles:

Like Trac I have been on here on and off all day some lovely words have been said.

Vicky what a lovely surprise to see you on here. i know how much you thought of Storm. you were always cuddling and fussing over him.

Johnny has been exceptional and pursued every avenue to help storm... when i was with Craig Riley in bangor he couldnt praise him enough. ofcourse the full crew at Gortlands have been great, Jolene Sam Veirla Julie and the reception too.

yesterday when the house call was made yesterday Johnny was the "professional" and carried out the job with 100% and with courtesy. that made it easier for me.

im sure ill see you when i call to collect Storms ashes.

ps im john

my dad was Mr Humphreys

Just wanted to say I'm so sorry that storm lost his fight.Never had the chance to meet him, but the love that was felt every time you read your posts john, and those of all the people who cared about you and him, it felt like he was brought alive and that everyone could know him.

I shed tears today because I know how hard it is saying goodbye to someone that means so much. Keep your chin up.

RIP storm

chris

I've just caught up with this thread John.

I can't begin to say that I know how you must be grieving , because I don't. I can

though say that I can share some of it and be like the many friends that you have

who are sharing some of it also.

Storm lived a good life and moved on with the dignity he deserved.

Sleep sound big fella.

So nice to read the comments and the lovely verses. Well done everyone.

From all of us in my family to you John, the very best wishes.

Chris
