I really wouldn't worry Katie :huggles: the way that canned food is produced means that nothing would be able to live in it after it was sealed and cooked - only if the tin was damaged (or unless there has been some sort of contamination at the production plant - I'm assuming that is why they would need the codes off the cans. Although it is quite rare for things to pass through the companies quality control). I'd be more likely to change supermarket cos it sounds like someone has 'dropsy' at that one

sent them an email this morning with the pic and iv just got this email back from them,
Good morning

I am sorry to learn you have had a problem with some  of our cans of Butcher’s dog food.

Please could you  email the two lines of code found printed on the bottom of the can this will be logged on to our system. Experience tells us  the cans must have been damaged in some way in order to allow air to reach the food resulting in product deterioration and mould growth.

We do not need to see the can or contents and will send you a letter of explanation as soon as possible  please send me your postal address.

wonder what there explanation will be

Hope the explanation is written on the back of a cheque! Jeez, that's awful. I get the boys butchers puppy sometimes to mix with their James Welbeloved, the vet recommended it or said chappie is really good too. Now I'm gonna be squirming when I open the tins incase there's one like that. :x

I have had a tin of beans with mould in it, was just cos the tin was dented, still eat beans! And the supermarket swapped it!

I know someone who had an Innocent smoothie, opened the top to find a layer of mould, she got in touch with the company who are giving her a years supply of smoothies or something! I'm jealous cos I love 'em!

The tins could have been dented in the supermarket..coming off the pallets perhaps...it may not be Butchers to blame for the fault in the tin.

They may feel obliged to give you a free tin or two ...or perhaps a voucher, but Ive come across one or two similar occurances....Whiskers cat food, and also tinned tomatoes etc.

It only takes the slightest bit of air then the whole tin will mould very quickly.

Any tinned food will go off/mouldy if the can is damaged. - not Butchers fault. Just get them replaced.
