Bwra Champs

Im from hastings

It takes me 5 hours just to get up north i ive got no problem with the travelling

what i have a problem with is having no were to stay when i get there .

My own personal view would be to have it anywhere that we can camp if that is scotland then so be it.What is not fair is to except us to travel both days.

It will be the 40th anniversary this year and what a let down not even a decent presentation giving trophy's out in the car park CANT WAIT

At the end of the day, not everyone can be accomodated, it is a shame, a real shame, but hardly anyone want's us  :( , that is the real dilemna......

That’s a bit unfair the Scottish region already have a straight championships as does your region and that’s what they are regional championships all regions are allowed them I believe. What we are debating here is the national championships which have been debated in the past on here and yes I have put across my point of view which remains consistent to this day that all the members should be catered for north and south. I have no axe to grind with members in the south or anywhere else for that matter I just want to race at the Straight Championships at a central location which even in the past was not the case as we had members in Dingwall (in the north of Scotland about thirty miles north of Inverness) I just want the same chance as you. Why bring politics into it but to bring you up to date the Labour Party now have a slight lead in the polls so it looks like Scotland will remain part of the UK for a while yet. This is about racing and I for one would rather my dog win a title against the best dogs in it’s class and not a empty title because a dog was sitting in it’s house because the owner could not get there. I am sure a central tack could have taken the Straight Championships without the camping but good luck to the members of the Worcester club who have allowed their track to be used I am sure the racers who turn up on the day will appreciate your efforts.

It was meant to be a bit a tongue in cheek...what is wrong with this site? I added THREE smiley's to make the point...a bit of a laugh...

On a more serious note down here in Thurrock and Fordingbridge we know full we would never get a Champs due to the same problems Scotland has...And I guess we accept that...It seems the best alternative the BWRA had was Worcester...and I trust their judgement...I think they work damn hard...

Why? Because like I said earlier on this thread, Thurrock (which has a club house, a good track and hard working members) know full well that they wouldn't get the numbers to make it a proper championship. The best place for many championships is the midlands, a bit tough on the Scots, I agree. However how many Southern members of the BWRA are there compared to Scotland? I don't know, just guessing that there is more Southern members.... :D but, no one would ever suggest having a major championship down here, would they?

And, I personally feel the new Wembley should of gone at least to Birmingham, access to Wembley is shite....so no Southern bias on this issue from me...

So if we add a smiley face to a post it’s a laugh so using that train of thought you are having a laugh saying that we have more members so sod the Scottish members and also we could hold them because our track could, well so could Kirkcaldy but in my opinion that should not happen (holding the Straight Championships at Kirkcaldy) as it would not be fair on members in the south (yes I mean the south of England not Scotland). In my opinion the point most are making is without camping at the track they could be held anywhere after all as has been pointed out there are plenty camp sites that can be sourced via the Caravan Club or the net so even without the camping the Straight Championships could still be held more central. If people won’t travel to the Straight Championships it’s just another open and there have been debates about there being to many of them lately is that what we want to do discourage people from travelling to the Straight Championships. When the venue was lost last year it went to a vote of the members so why not this year. It makes you wonder if you don’t chase points is it worth waiting to see where the Championships are being held that way you can keep your money in your pocket and see if your dog is fit or ready to break if it’s a bitch or if it gets injured or any other problems that could stop your dog/bitch racing and if everything is okay you can join (within the twenty eight day rule) and have a go at getting a title. And in between racers can support their clubs which are supposed to be the life blood of the sport.
 
I dont see what difference it makes how many members are in what region what really matters is fairness to all and as far as i can see the distance we have to travel does not even come in to it so once again the Scottish region has been overlooked I dont know why we even bother paying our memberships we only hear what is going on through the grapevine not from any official body Speaking of how come none of the BWRA committee ever answer any of the enquiries on here do none of you read this site I would like to know how the decision came about to hold the championships at wocester and who actually made that decision I never knew anything about it till I came on k9 was there a members vote or was it a committee decision I would be grateful if anyone can enlighten me

NO NO NO! All I am saying is the South would not expect to get the Champs (it would be nice). But it just won't happen...the same as it won't happen for Scotland...and like I said the new Wembley should of gone further North...I am all for fairness to everyone...but logisitics rule the day...so, I guess I agree...with most of the above post...and yes, a smiley is 'tongue in cheek' which was lost on here in about 2003.... :D

Well I have to say I am not bothered as a lot of us arnt where they hold the champs if there was camping facilitys when we all got there. People choose what opens they attend throughout the year but the champ are the events people go out of the way to get there dogs ready for. I know there has been a lot of posts about no one wanting us but at the end of the day Scotland have never turned us away and I for one have never felt unwelcome there. But I could also say the same for Devon when we were there last year but Devon is now closed so I think we should get down to the grind stone and pull together as I know we all can and do what we do best and thats race our dogs and hold a good weekend somewhere and enjoy. :- "
 
cant understand why they dont use A&T miners ( ginpit) as it was apperently offered with camping facilities, doesnt make sense why use somewhere with no camping when there is somewhere available with camping. personally i think all the venues that were offered shud have been put to a members postal vote. like everyone is saying nobody minds where it is so long as theres camping 4 people with a dog & a bitch or scratch and a bitch or a veteran and a dog ie those who will have to travel the 2 days.

Well that would make sense or for a faster answer each region could have held a meeting and the regional secretary reporting back to the main committee on the votes for each of the venue's put forward.

Maybe there will be some answers tomorrow :wacko: it's obvious the BWRA aren't prepared to comment on k9 and there is STILL bugger all on their website to inform people about Worcester.

A lot of members have already booked in on sites around Worcester, the national secretary informed all regional secretaries that the Championships were at Worcester last Sunday and asked them to inform their members, if you haven't been informed speak to your regional secretary. Worcester is a good track not used by many who will be racing at the Championships which makes it fairer all round it is in the Midlands and not in the South, the distance is on parr with Ashfordby and Old Hall Some sites are £10 a night with electric hook ups and it is a very pretty area. I can assure you if the Championships were held in Scotland and that is no disrecpects to the Scottish Region majority of racers from the Thurrock downwards would not be able to afford the petrol money or be able travel their young children all that way. We are not doing Amanda who runs Worcester any favours she has put herself out to do us one.
 
it takes us 3 and half hours to old hall and about 5 hours to worsceter? i wudnt say it was the midlands? i dont think anyone is knocking the track or the place as it is lovely wot people r saying is that it cud have been anywhere with no camping so why worcs?
 
I still think we should go where camping is on site and not a few miles away thats the point of these champ meetings for us all to get together and run our dogs with the best.
 
Personally i think if a camping venue can be found it should be used

I endorse everything Sheila says, Worcester is definitely a Midlands track and it takes the Thurrock crowd 5 hours and myself 3 hours to get to the track, so it seems the same distances as from Newcastle area.

Unfortunately no-one would allow us camping around that area so a day event was the only fair option. Only people to suffer are the Scottish folk.

I don't know why the discussions are still coming as everything has been arranged and a lot of people have already spent money on booking in a sites which will soon be booked up as it is a bank holiday.

Perhaps when Devon offered us camping on the week before would have been a better conclusion but of course it was too far south.

people are still discussing this subject as they were NOT consulted and the bwra should have consulted all reps / members thats what the bwra are supposed to to are`nt they???
 
i personally like worcester track but camping at the track is always better
 
Well I dont think a day event is a fare option for those with dogs and bitches as its not just a day for them. And what about familys where the children dont all enjoy the racing its a bank holiday and people want a week end away with the family and enjoy racing as well. As I said not the track thats the problem its the camping we have always managed in the past and I think the north south fight is a bit thin now the Scotish has always traveled and ran there dogs but its a long way to go for just a day for them.

The Scottish dont matter :angry:

I for one wont be at the champs this year and now wish I rever bothered to join the BWRA :angry:
