Have just been on the whippet archives and have notice quite a few of our dogs and photos have been added by Geoge???

Could someone please tell me who George is???

obviously someone with plenty of time on their hands

I have only ever put to of my dogs on years ago when the were pups they are 9 this year and their information has been changed!!!!!

just been on to check mine to find isla is a champion at 11 weeks old  there must be a way to stop people changing details i just hope whoever it is hasnt taken my pic of daisy for their use

People should not be allowed to post pictures on there without permission, I have just removed an awful one someone had added af my beautiful boy Tyson!

I'm rather interested to know too - putting pics I have never seen before of our dogs as pups. False details, changing colour, sizes etc. I have deleted the pics that 'George' kindly added to our dogs details.

Some very weird people out there.

re the pictures people are supposed to have copyright permission which should also semi cover the owner's permission. However if people are putting up bad photos and misinformation etc, please contact the admin of the archives and report the person so that it can be followed up.

I would also like to know who is George is; he has also added pics to one of my dog's page. He copied the photo out of our Whippet Club Diary, it was a nice pic, but it did not reproduce too well in the Diary and by the time it was scanned it was a blotchy mess.

I think it is OK for people to post photos of dogs from the past, who have no photos at all, as that is of interest to all of us. But it is very rude to change info obviously put in by the dog's owners, or add photos to page that already has photo or 2.

I think this George means well, but is likely to upset many people.

well im sorry but i dont think he does mean well why put pics of peoples dogs which in most cases are either wrong or the pic is not the best one of their dog on a site where the owners have already put their own pics on it just baffles me as to why he would even want to do it tbh and like you i think its all a bit rude to say the least:angry:

Yes who is George??? I have wondered that also and most of the photos he has put up are scanned photos from advertisments.. and as Lida pointed out not good a photo (not the photo itself but the scanned image)

Oh they have certainly had an email from me. I will wait to see what they say.

Won't let me edit, I got a reply that says anyone can post anything, the info can be used as its in a public domain. Photos are not to be used without permission although they clearly are. I have asked that "George" be warned about using photos without permission and that more care is needed when adding dogs.

I have now joined and altered the details of mine that are incorrect. I suppose I will have to keep checking,

I think what he is doing is inappropriate, but i do not think it is malicious. I cannot speak for other people, but the photo of my Callista that George posted was just a portrait cut out from my ad; obviously I was happy the way she looked it in that photo or I would not have paid for it to be printed. Actually, it was one very similar to the one on my avatar - taken the same day. ON TWA I only had photo of her set up with her head partially obscured by a hand. I do not have any other standie-uppie photo of her, and she is long retired from a ring and somewhat plumpish now :)

She is not an important dog as far as the breed goes and I did not think I should take up the TWA space by posting number of photos, which I assumed will not be of particularly interest to anybody. I thought just the one quite informal shot was enough. It was actually taken when we were taking pictures of pups, who escaped. She came to my friend and stood herself up, he just lifted her head and I snapped the one shot, before catching the pups to try for more pictures.

After I removed the photo posted by George, I posted one moving and one running, both showing her head.

All the other pictures posted by George were on pages that did not have any other photos.

The Whippet Archives have never been 100% spot on. Hope George is caught.

We noticed that the breeder of one of our dogs had been changed. You can add a breeder but not delete one however when contacted

the site administrators took off the incorrect breeder for us.

Unfortunately our Whippet Specialty catalogues have often been wrong as well. I am just waiting for somebody to change my dogs' pedigree on TWA to what was printed in the catalogue last year

I wonder if it would possible, as breeders/owners, to have our correct data for say 4 generations locked, so it could not be altered by anybody but us?

:(

I am sorry to say that I too have had cause to go into this site, AGAIN, and amend some of my details but did not notice who had added part of my home address only as owners for Joe. Annoying as the details were correct prior to that & I was not amused to see it had been changed. But I hasten to add that this was a problem in the not too distant past, details being changed/added to/pictures etc. and many complaints were made then.

I know who George is but you all seem so cross I think it's best I don't tell you but I will get a message through asking them to stop.

However, this person is only reproducing photos already approved by you to go into print elsewhere, mostly the Biennial, & if you had put your own photos of your dogs up on The Whippet Archives someone else wouldn't have to do it. I believe (but not 100% sure) the photo is always attributed to the photographer, if known, or the owner of the dog.

Personally, I thank George very much for putting up photos for me of my dogs because I don't know how to do it myself.

Some of us didn't put our own dogs up 8)

Some of us get fed up of having to check the details because they have been edited and incorrect information entered.

Some of us know who George is as well but I'm more concerned that TWA do not have an audit trail to be able to provide information to owners when their dog's details ahev been altered incorrectly.

I'm grateful to everyone who has contributed to something that could be a marvellous tool if there was just some way of ensuring that the information was accurated and not tampered with. I only found out yesterday that one of my other dogs had been entered. He is the only progeny entered to a Dam and Sire that both had at least two litter registered to them, but the fact that he is the ONLY offspring registered means that he has been entered on purpose by someone else for no other reason but to put him on there. He has not sired any litters so someone wasn't filling in any blanks.

What this means however, is that anyone who sees that and knows my affix will presume that I have half heartedly entered his name, sex and dob and nothing else. That's what really gets my goat, the same as for Badger, it looks like I can't be bothered to fill it all in. Once I found Badger had been entered I did complete all the missing fields and I will now do the same with Winx.
