Hiya all, I'm new to the forum, have been reading lots and am very grateful of all the information and stories you share! We are waiting for our new family member to come home (you can see him in my signature, he should be with us some time in September!) I'm looking to buy him a cute little puppy collar and have seen some lovely ones on etsy.com. The only problem is that this is the first whippet of my own, and I'm not sure what neck size to order. This is just a soft webbing collar to last till he's big enough for a proper leather hound collar. The seller makes them adjustable, but does anyone have any idea what sort of size I should go for? She suggested 6-9" or 7-11" would this be to small? Would love some input :)

Thanks in advance!

What a gorgeous puppy  Good luck.. :luck:

my girls are now a 17months old and 11" round the neck,

i cant remember what there neck sizes were when we first got them but the puppy collars i had bouht from the pet shop were far to big,

we had to buy small cat/kitten collars for them as they were tiny,

im sure there will be some one with a pup who could tell you the size but i would definatly think it woul be the smaller of the two sizes, the 6-9"

good luck, you pup looks gorgeous

I always think martingale collars are the best for whippets at any age as they can not back out of them, when they are fitted properly. You can get them in loads of different patterned trims - literally hundreds!!

If you look in the Market Place there are several forum members who make collars, perhaps get in touch with one of them as I am sure they will be able to advise you on which size would be best. :)

Your new baby looks beautiful by the way, September must seem a long way away at the moment!

Thanks for the replies from everyone :)

Yes September does feel a long time away, (especially with 3 children all at home for the summer lol) But really excited, and as the breeder is a close family friend we can visit quite often. It will be nice for the children to meet django regularly, and nice for the pups to be getting used to seeing children too!

Have ordered a very cute little collar and lead set now!

What a beautiful little boy   and I hope you have a lovely time with him. Enjoy the early time, it goes sooooo quickly :( . My little 'baby', Gracie, is now four months and is now looking like a proper whippet, pointy nose etc - lets face it they don't when they're very young!

lol, They don't look at all like whippets as pups do they, teeny labradors or something!
