Well done to Liz and Bettle :cheers:

Well done to Lousie and Stan :cheers:

AND A BIG WELL DONE TO THE BOB WINNER :thumbsup:

Am so very proud of my dog Keano "speymalt heir of buckpool ShCm" who won the Post Grad class and came 2nd in the Mid Limit. Silly me entered him into two classes not thinking i would get anything (w00t) (w00t) .

Sorry i didnt meet any of the K9ers, every time i went past the bench no-one was there :D

Well done to all the k9ers who got placed or short listed.

We left Aberdeen at 8pm on Friday and didnt get home till 5am on Sunday morning ! still very tired but the journey was well worth it.

I must say personaly I thought the Cruifts best of breed was a nice looking dog.

I don't know anything about the breed but it was a nice well turned out dog.

Yes, you do have an opinion, but clearly (as previously stated) it is not right to come onto a public forum and state as you did, the following;

have you read the rules recently;

* You must not make personal attacks on other groups, persons, organisations or users. If you feel you must criticise then criticise the idea not the individual or group. Any posts criticising individuals or groups will probably get removed and those doing the critcising will be warned via the warning system.

* There will be no posts meant to offend or hurt any other person, organisation or user, in a manner which is offensive or inflammatory.

Whilst you may have tried to cover yourself by stating "No offence" it was clearly your intention to proclaim that dog as not worthy of the result it had been awarded.

As someone who is quite new to the breed I have always considered that I do not have the expertise to criticise a judges decision. I might not agree with it based on my personal preference, but the judge on the day is the only person who has physically examined each exhibit, and has been deemed worthy of the right to decide which dogs in the ring conform closest to their interpretation to the breed standard.

I would suggest you apply a little decorum and tact in future. Either that, or go on a few judging courses, spend years working hard to get to the required standard, and then wait for the invitation to judge at Crufts. Then we can all watch with interest as you make your selections ;)

Every one of the whippets that were there are all winners,all loved by their owners and very proud to be Qualified for Crufts 2007,it must have been very difficult job for both judges.At the end of the day there is only one BOB,who will be very proud what they have received and represent the breed for the breed standard,a day they will never forget.

Thanks for the nice picture of the racing/coursing class, and by the way Beetle does race most Sundays at SPWRC and has won bends finals so is fully entitled to enter this class.
Hi Liz, if you read earlyer in this thread (I think its in this thread) I wrote a few comments about your dog, I commented to several while your class was going on what a good looking dog he was before he won his class earlyer in the day.

i've tidied this thread up a little as it was getting a bit out of hand with personal comments rather than constructive comments (positive or negative)

fair comment........this is prob' not the place to put forward my opinion....i've had lots of attacks....but someone must agree with me somewhere...i'll phrase it dif' next time....showing dogs prob' aint the one for me....cant understand the judging.

No offence to you rooney i think it depends on what shows you have been to, cause i know from experiene when a judge who hasnt had much experience with the bred has a class of whippets where the majority of whippets have say bad movement (just using this as an example i.e high stepping) and say two whippets in the class has the correct movement the judge will tend to sway towards the majority. So you the spectator outside the ring and the exhibitor of the dog then believes that this is the correct movement of the dog !

Crufts is the highlight of the year for many people. Some of those people work so hard to get there. The standard of whippets at crufts was soooo high this year, and i am therefore very proud that my dog Keano won his PG class and 2nd in the mid limit. Maybe the shows you have been to havent been of a high standard.

But with experince comes wisdom. And you certainly need some experince,

i thought champ' shows were high standard....there were alot of dogs at crufts with high stepping....but why are you saying that the few with good movement dont get praised for that?....someone told me that if the dog moves well then it is built correctly..........wouldnt it be a good idea for a judge to be someone from outside the whippet circle......i havent been in the game long you're correct....but i find that everyone knows everyone.....and the judges come out of that circle...its like me being a referee at a Man city football match....(dont think thats offensive to anyone)

Everyone interprets the standard differently. If they didn't, showing would be very boring because the same dogs would be placed in the same order week in week out!

If you don't agree with a judges decisions - make a mental note and don't enter under them again, simple as. If i don't think a judge will like my type of Whippets, i don't enter. They are not everyone's cup of tea after all. :- "

Alayna is a member of this forum and i suspect she would feel upset by the comments made - i would! It must have been a wonderful day for her and these sort of things could take the shine off.

Yes, we are all entitled to an opinion. We all must have had a personal favourite who would have been our BOB. However, the judges made their decision and Alayna and Silver should be congratulated on their wonderful achievement. :)
