I was just about to put the girls in the van after this mornings walk (6.45am).

Dippy on the lead and Inca off the lead, when a man with a border collie on the lead and a boxer off the lead but franticly trying to get it on it.

The loose boxer runs straight up to Dippy and jumps on her back showing its teeth and growling and then just starts biting her and trying to shake her.

The mans just stands there while I'm kicking the bloody thing to stop it, it took 5 kicks to stop it.

All the man could say was "I'll pay for any damage" and "oh its my sons dog and can be really unpredictable".

So I tells him, if you know its an unpredictable dog it should be kept on the lead at all times especially if this has happened before.

So he puts it on the lead and waits for me to give a good check over...luckly there wasn't any damage but a very shakey Puppy.

With no damage done to my baby I told him "you've been lucky this time, just make sure you keep it on the lead"

As I get into the van, what does he do...lets the bloody dog off the lead

Poor Dippy :( Must have been scary for you all. What an idiot the man was  .

I am so sorry. We had a similar incident about 12 months ago with a boxer. Was hanging off Beau's neck. Took me ages to get the thing off. Owner just stood there.

Hope all is well with Dippy. :huggles:

OMG (w00t)Poor Dippy :( Some people just hav'nt got the brains they were born with

Glad Dippy is ok sending lots of :huggles: :huggles:

poor Dippy, hope he's ok.

Don't you just wish a dog the size of a horse (so it's all relative ) would do the same to that man......sure he'd pee his pants

:huggles: to you all.

Oh poor little Dippy, I hope she is ok.

If the dog is unpredictable he should have it on a lead  My Lenny is unpredictable but I always have him on a lead if I suspect we may bump into a dog. When I take him for off lead exercise I make sure I go either so early in the morning that no one else is stupid enough to be up at that time  or I go to the furthest corner of a massive field where I can see anyone who's coming from miles off.

I have been caught out though at time and Lenny goes speeding off and launches himself at a dog, but when this happens, I don't stand there like a drip, I go charging over (looking very silly :b ) calling him back in the most enthusiastic -you are a good boy - voice I can muster (w00t) .

I hope it doesn't affect Dippy too much. I have a feeling that Lenny was bullied in the barn that he grew up in :( and I think this has made him so scared of other dogs.

omg helen was it at golden acre park.

remember when i told you about a women with a boxer up there she just laughed while it attacked leah then millie, molly had a go back which seem to put it off coming back again for another go.

me and janis really went to town on the woman because all she could do was laugh, she soon wiped the smile off her face when janis said she knew where she lived and would get her reported.

hope dippy is getting over her shock,as that can scar her for life, and thank god she was not bitten badly.

THIS IS HAPPENING TO MUCH

GIVE DIPPY A :huggles: FROM US

Another stupid irrisponsible dog owner again :( this really saddens me people cannot keep their dogs under proper control

Good luck Dippy - and Get Well soon. :luck:

Poor little Dippy... :huggles:

It infuriates me when i see stupid irresponsible people with dogs, i swear some people haven't got the brains that they were born with half the time...

my johnjoe is out & out aggressive when we are out walking so hes only allowed off in my own garden & a couple of times a week i go to a friends farm where hes gets let off but the amount of times i've had him in the park & a dog has tried to approach him which isnt on a lead & then you get stupid owners saying ' mines ok, hes friendly '... while im holding mine back & hes foaming at the mouth straining to get to this other dog... .. it makes me look bad then for having a dog snarling & barking & for shouting at the owner to get their dog away... johnjoe is a greyhound but he definately doesnt act like one i admit...

so soory to hear this helly-b.........i don't understand why anyone would stand and watch their dog attactking another.

I had a boxer follow Dij last week - dij snarling and snapping (on a lead!) and boxer off him, while boxer man just sat and drank his pint.

the boxer was just being a bit rude and nosy, but given that Dij was trying to bite it, you'd've thought the man would have collected his dog wouldn't you?

part of me wanted to let Dij off and say 'well, if you aint bothered mate, neither am i' and stop having me arm wrenched out of its socket!

(but i'm much too nice for that, and wouldn't want either dog to get hurt....but would have liked to see if that made the man shift his ass!)

hope dippy's feeling better - big hugs from Urchin Towers :huggles:

So you meet people like that too

It really winds me up when I'm trying to do what I've been taught to at training and they just stand there and say 'oh its ok'when lenny is trying to bite their dogs face off! It takes me all my self control not to yell at them 'NO ITS NOT OK YOU IMBECILE(sp)'. I bet it would be a different story if he was trying to bite them, they're not bothered if he bites the poor dog

It also winds me up when people let their dog run up off lead upto lenny (on lead). When I ask the owner to call the dog away they say 'its ok he's friendly' yeah, well mine ISN'T!!!

I think I'm having a bit of a rant here so I'll stop :b by the way, I think I am painting a bad picture of lenny here, he isn't really that bad and has never actually bitten a dog, just snapped :(

By the way Urchin, I have been reading your thread and have just bought that book :D

Oh and hellybobs, tell Dippy not to worry, if I go to the dogs trust day on sunday lenny will not be attending

I'll shut up now :clown:

So sorry to hear about Dippy, hope he's ok :huggles:

I know only to well about irresponsible dog owners... :(

Poor Dippy :(

Sending lots of :huggles:

Hope Dippy is ok now, stupid man. was he an old bloke?

Give Dippy lots of :huggles: from us

sharron and Zeb

Thanks all, Dippy seems to be ok, she's been a bit quiet all day...really not like her at all, it must be the shock.

Pat, it was on the field just as you enter the wood at Adel, just on King Lane.

My dad seems to remember a man and a boxer just like that at the park not so long ago, claiming it wasn't his dog and it did the same thing to his dog...

Poor Inca was terrified, she's been attacked a few times before and I think it was a bit much for her because she actually poo'ed herself whilst hiding behind me.

He wasn't really that old, maybe his late 40's...old enough to know better though.

so sorry poor dippy has been attacked and sounds like inca has been traumatised by this incident too. :( try reporting it to the police and see if theres been any other reports about this dog and owner.might be worth trying if only to see if its constantly doing this and is a dangerous dog.you could always walk out there without the dogs to see if you can see this guy again and if you do follow him to see where he lives and report him to the police.might be an idea to take someone with you too

yeah id go with kris hun, u cant let this pass! if he is happy to let the bloody thing off as soon as ur out of sight ( he thinks ) then how many times has he done this before?????

big love to dippy, inca and you babe sounds like u all need a big :huggles:

That sounds like a good idea, I'll keep an eye for him next time.

Dippy was worried about other dogs last night during our walk, she kept running away from them and hiding...I hope this hasn't scarred her life.

I hope that this isn't a permanent issue for you. It can take time and patience. Show her that you are confident and let her recover in her own time. I am sure she will be back to normal soon.

Hope all goes well.
