Do you have a local pet shop you visit?

Although I get lots of dog products online, I still like to visit our local pet shop @The Pet Pantry Clevedon because all the staff are so friendly and it's a treat for Dennis to go in and chose a treat :)

I used to have one close enough that I would carry Jasper there to introduce him to the owner and socialise him when he was a pup. The owner was great - she once helped me remove a tick from his eyelid, and she would happily give me poo bags if I'd forgotten them and didn't want to return home and confuse J, and then I'd pay her later. The only problem came when I ordered 22 packs of raw food to try J on the different varieties, and she thought by 'pack' I meant the 12-individual-pack boxes she got it delivered in... I had to hastily rearrange my freezer so us humans had no space at all, cram in what I could, and she managed to fit the rest in the freezer in the shop. She gave me a hefty discount and I didn't need to buy dogfood again for months!

She retired a few months ago and the shop is no longer a pet shop, which is a real shame.

Oh that is a real shame @JudyN - good job Jasper liked all the food!!

No. We used to but the guy who ran it was a bit unreliable so you could go down at a normal shop time and find it closed. He also didn't stock particularly good food. I get T's Gentle food delivered by a lovely man who always has a new product in his pocket for market research testing (!). I also get Pure food from Pets at Home, the last time i was there they had a couple of boxes reduced to half price as they were getting close to their best before date, i was planning on taking one when the sales assistant said just to take the second box for free! Now that was a bargain. It's dehydrated and sealed so although I still have to open it I am reasonably confident it will be ok. And if it's not, nothing lost. But I am really upset they have stopped stocking the yak milk chews.

Pets at Home is nearest for us, although I think we still have pet shop in town. Not been in in a while, so I dunno

I use my local independent pet shop. They might be slightly more expensive than the chains but I’d rather they had my money. Always friendly and helpful; and of course if I take Misty in with me she always gets spoilt :D

Yes I have a couple. There is a chain one ( it's a small chain - they have a handful of stores) which I use as the staff are lovely and they do free puppy socialisation sessions with a discount on purchases. There is an independent in the town too but they aren't very friendly so I don't go in much.

A lot of Harri's toys come from the lovely lady who runs the pet shop in Bath market. Dogs aren't supposed to be allowed in the market but they only have the sign on one door and Harri & I always use the other ;) .

We have a pets at home and another that is quite good we got our flexi lead from them and its great! the toys on the other hand not so good :)

We have a local independent pet shop that we use for basics, new leads, chewies etc because I try to shop local. BUT they think they know a lot about dogs and they really don't. For instance they assured me that dogs caught fleas from hedgehogs and that no dog has a grain intolerance, it's made up by vets to sell you a special diet! No amount of polite reasoning will dislodge these and other beliefs- leaves me wondering if they do any actual harm.
