Dog Poo

We have a pooh bin near our house, down i jitty.Mine only pooh in the garden first thing,so i collect it and put it in

there.

Amandax

I have been having this arguement with our local council as after 5 years of taking our rather neatly double bagged in a black bag dog poo the bin man decided to slice the bags open with a stanley knife :x and proceed to have an arguement with my husband that he couldn't "f**kin take dog s*it" - he made one hell of a mess and left all our bags and all teh rubbish floating up our lane, nice we thought but it was he who split the bags!!!!!

Anyway the upshot is we are back to the original crew of bin men :) who officially HAVE to take the waste provided it is double bagged and in the black domestic waste bags - we have the official line and the top man to call in the council for any further arguement over our doggy poo! As you can imagine with 6 dogs and a large garden we generate quite a bit of poo....................Were we a licensed kennels the rules are all different and you have to pay for it to be insinerated (sp?).

Be careful anyone who is putting in down the loo if you are on a septic tank system as it has a slightly different chemical compound to us humans and can affect your good bacteria in your tank!!! See now I'm worried that I know about dog poo in such detail...... I'm off to get a life about now!!!!!!

Mmmm can't beleive im reading about dog Poo Lol !!!!!!!!!

Well i bag it & bin it.

Same here. Its goes in a bucket with disinfectant then once a day usually in the morning it goes down the manhole. With the exception of frosty days as I discovered the manhole lid freezes and I can't lift it. Then it goes down later in the day.

iv been intrieged by the garden loo thing, so googled it and this is the first one that came up

only £15 so not as expensive as i thought, although on reading about it im not sure im to keen on the idea of it :b :x
I'm sure that is cheaper than the one at Pets at Home, mind it was a while ago so maybe I'm wrong. I think it was the chemical stuff that would've made it expensive. Plus, having read an earlier post about soil types affecting drainage.... :x :x :x

Do you think this thread proves we all talk a load of s***!!

I bag it and bin it. Parents bought one of those doggy loos for their two lurchers. It cant take more than what two dogs produce and its pretty disgusting opening it to put the poo in cos it takes a while for it all to dissolve into the ground so you are putting the fresh poo into a bucket full of what I can only describe as foul poo soup :x :x

I have a dustpan and brush set which is kept outside especially for the wee jobbies. Everyday when I take out my kitchen rubbish, I have a scoop round the garden, pop it in the bag, tie up the handles and put it in the bin. Then most importantly, quickly run in and was my hands.

"Has anyone ever used one of those 'doggy loo' things they sell in places like Pets at Home? "
Anybody tried one of these? Nearly bought one myself but havent known anyone have one
I have one. It works very well in the warmer months but I'm finding that through the winter the biodigesting system isn't working well.

You are supposed to flush it through with clean water every couple of weeks - it helps a lot!

I use nappy sacks to pick up when my 4 are finished. These then get tied up and put into a bigger plastic shopping bag. This then gets tied up and put in the bin when it is full (or gets whiffy) I bought a chemical loo and it is still in its box it the garage. I just cannot bring myself to use it (yuck :p ) If anyone in the Edinburgh area wants it pm me and you can have it free on collection.

I use nappy bags and double bag the poo from my five, then put it in a carrier bag and on my way to work at five thirty in the morning,I carry the bag to a council bin and put it in there....this is only legal if there isn't a proper poo bin within 50metres..that's according to the council. Very very occasionally I put it in the wheelie bin if its the day before collection day.

i have a chemical loo installed but it cannot keep up with the amount of poo produced with my 6 was 7 dogs. Therefore we made enquires with the council and they will take it providing, as previously mentioned, it is securely and double bagged.

I pick up the poop several times a day with poop scoop, deposit into a bucket with an extra strong bin liner in. Every other day i take the bin liner out put in another binliner tie and put it in the wheelie bin.

We have an old dustbin with a liner in it in the back garden, poo gets picked up in poo bags which are tied off, then bin liner gets tied off and goes in the wheelie bin.

I do worry about this though, it seems completely daft to take a 100% biodegradable substance (dog poo) then wrap it in two layers of plastic and send it to landfill

I have tried a dog loo thing in the past but in our clay soil it didn't work well at all. Am now considering trying one of these or similar:
