janfiers said:(w00t) Ok Lets clear the mess up about lunchtime. Sorry haven't been on before but work and being absolutely kernackered when I get home is the reason.
Jax is quite right I did tell everyone that the judge would be breaking after puppy bitch. However, when the judge realised he would be waiting outside the restaurant for lunch (it didn't open till 12) he decided to carry on and judge the junior bitch class, so I had to go round the ring once again and Maurice also went round the benches along with a couple of other people.
I have never stewarded, in all my years (about 25), for a judge who was so difficult. Despite however politely we told him about the regulations and standing left to right and so on, he just said he wanted it that way and that was that. He also decided to do things the exact opposite of every other judge who has judged Whippets in that ring at Driffield, but eventually he kind of saw sense. I had just had enough so I went to see the Show Manager as we were getting loads of complaints (and quite rightly too) about his way of carrying on.
It was a hard job stewarding for him but at the end of the day he's the chap in charge of the ring and we are just humble stewards. Those people who have never stewarded ever, should have at least one go at it, then they'd know it's not so easy as it looks sometimes. Stewarding at a breed show is easy compared to stewarding at either an Open or Champ show and I think the judge should go back to school to learn his ring etiquette.
jools said:Well said Jan, having done a little stewarding I know it isn't so easy, each judge seems to have individual little ways. As far as the judge on the day, he had strange ways of doing things at Leeds - and he hasn't changed much by the look :clown: :clown:
I don't think you needed to rub the menu in quite so much, I have just gone on a diet and (apart from the meat) you were making my mouth water - PLEASE could you be a little more sensitive next time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :teehee:
Not as good as the lawn at Angus's back yard. :cheers:JAX said:The Lawns looking good `Bertie ` (w00t) :huggles:
Karen said:Sad that we won't be able to have that next year, all the stewards, workers and committee are hoping that the catering will be as good at the new venue, or they might suffer as Leeds did a few years ago, when the catering was c***. Fortunatley, they've got the people who do Emmerdale and so on now, so it is ok.
