When voting in a poll on K9 you must cast your vote before viewing the result, if you look at the result and then try to cast a vote it will not let you. This has nothing to do with me it is the way the polls on the board work. I have always assumed this is so you give your vote not influenced by the results. As I say not me it the way K9 works.I have to say I have been very surprised by the results because I actually think using drugs is very rare but I dont think it is ever wrong to ask questions. I do wonder if the view that it is a problem is perhaps so widespread due to people suggesting that the problem exists to each other without any factual basis at all.

marie i apologise if i jumped the gun about your poll just didnt see it as a good advert :( but i think you did it with good intensions

I know that I am very new to racing Gary and therefore am interested in what people who have been in the sport for a long time think. I have not got an unseen agenda or an alterior motive I just wanted to know what people thought. I have never seen any evidence of people behaving in a shady manner and so I do not believe there is any real problem, I have been genuinely surprised by what people think but I do wonder if their opinion is based on solid experience or is it just suspicion which we all know is a thing that is not very reliable. If people have been shocked or surprised by the results maybe it might give them some food for thought. :)

I HAVE NOT DOUBT YOU DONE THIS POLL WITH GOOD INTENTIONS BUT THE FACT IS THIS IS NOW NOT A TRUE REFLECTION OF THE VOTES

AND LOOKS BAD ON WHIPPET RACING

YOUR POLL DOES NOT WORK I CLICKED ON TO SEE RESULTS  AND NOW IT TELLS ME YHAT I HAVE ALREADY VOTED  WHERE DID MY VOTE GO

GARY

The poll won't let you vote once you've clicked to view votes, makes sense really as some people might be swayed once they've seen the votes.

I am sure DEFRA can look at whippet racing any time they want, not just because we talk about the possibility that drugs might be being used. It's scaremongering to suggest that, but does have the effect of silencing some people who might have valid questions to ask.
chris

My posts Ive made in a previous topic was no where meant to be a scare monger or silence anyone from there opinions Chris ...it was fact and believe me when i say the latest derfa and welfare group meeting none ped bend racing was brought up

When I saw results, after I had voted, was surprised to see how many folk believe there is a drug problem

When I first saw the topic I could not vote as was not signed in on K9,,,Im not having a go at Maire,,she did a poll for non ped racer's :D All im saying is,,not all voting will be non ped racer's  .

I dont think if any use drugs,,I knew I was 100% safe with Robbie,,very fussy, he never picked anything from the ground,,he did pass a dope test with the BWRA a few years back,,now Guess When (Ricky),,he was fed the same as Robbie, but he ate everything he saw,,my heart would have been in my mouth with him

I knew he would have passed no bother, but what if he ate something on the way to the traps.

Ive seen loads of dogs over the years taking a burger or roll of the ground,,the owner trying to take it from it's mouth,,,it eats it,,wins,,goes sup ,,passed the dope test,,now I would be a very scared owner of that dog :- "

Why do people leave food around for the dogs to pick up,,,with Ricky and most of our dogs over the 20 odd yrs , we or John had to pick him up to the traps,,to stop them picking this food laying around . We never left the dogs alone, just for this reason incase someone tried to tamper with them,,Im not saying it happens,,just the way we worked on race days

I think all most 99% of non ped dogs racing are clean,,,in the 1% will be the worming owners, antibiotic owners, or using the wrong rub on the dog

They dont know they are failing a dope test  ,,doing right for the dog

If there were proper guide lines,,maybe there are now, so if your worming a dog a few days before champs , you will know the dog would fail a dope test

Im going out of topic now  it is about the poll,,that might be wrong (w00t) ,,so I will shut up for now

SORRY VICKY BUT IT DOES NOT MAKE SENCE IT SHOULD WARN YOU NOT TO LOOK AT THE POLL BEFORE VOTING MOST PEOPLE ARE CURIOUS AND LOOK WITHOUT THINKING

GARY

I think it does state that if you look before voting your vote will not be accepted !!!

I did say i THINK but i still think it says something in the little blue boxes on the poll something like Viewing Results will Null your vote- meaning that that counts as your vote, so you won't actually be able to vote on any of the options if you view it first. i THINK!!!!! but as only human could well be wrong  Gives you the option to VOTE or VIEW RESULTS (Null vote) :D on first visit or until you do one or the other :))

It says view results (null vote) on the voting panel buttons...which means if you view you lose your vote

My point exactly denise, DEFRA will discuss non peds, no matter what discussion occur on K9, whether it is about drugs or not.

chris

What ever Chris i am sure you right again

I'm sure you are right too denise :)

chris

Maybe a significant problem is different to lots of people? There might be some that think 1 dog per meeting might be given drugs, or that drugs only appear at the champs, or that there are certain clusters of people that use drugs on their dogs. Who knows, the poll can never be seen to determine accurate percentages, but perhaps it indicates the level of concern about the possibilty of the inaccuracies of drug testing, and the small percentage of people getting away with it.
