Rocket is improving but slowly, sometimes the only way we can tell is by comparing his achievements with what we have written in a diary we have been keeping. However he is walking with more of 'whippet' back and less of a shamble and his rear paws are not 'knuckling' any longer but we know now that it will be months and not weeks before we can say that he has a good quality of life..

He has a canine phisio vist him every 2 weeks and has a hydrotherapy session every week which really works his back legs and knackers him for a day!

Yes it's costing a lot of money but it'll be worth it when we see him and Bandit loping off together. What we can't understand is the attitude of some 'friends' that are disgusted that the money has been spent on saving our super dog, they believe that the money should have been used to help relieve World Poverty!

Joey, is the rate of Diesels' improvement increasing as time goes on?

As you say...'friends'

It does not matter how much it costs to 'save your super dog' - he is all that matters

So glad to hear, although slow, he is regaining his health.

:luck: :luck: Good luck to you all - look forward to seeing pics of him back to prime health.

Tell your so called friends to go F@## themselves!

What you do with your hard earned money is your own business! I think it's commendable that in this throw away society that you didn't take the easy option!

Diesel is still making slow progress, took him to the field this evening and let him off. He found a ball on a rope and pranced round like a spring lamb!

Hi Digby,

Glad to hear that Rocket is making some progress, mostly glad his back feet arent knuckling over, its horrid to see, so when they do stop its wonderful.

Diesels progress is still quite slow, though its hard to believe his accident was only about 14 weeks ago, so really he has come a very long way, he is a different dog to the one who knuckled over with every ginger step and whoes back legs collapsed while he ate his tea

He is now much stronger but seems like a buckaroo at times.he has strenghth just no control?

The vet told us that progress seems to virtually stop..then just when you feel like giving up they go and surprise you.

i cant wait for the day Rocket surprises you..it will be worth every penny.

PS Digbys injury was far worse that Diesels

we send love and best wishes

Abso-bloody-lutely!

Glad to hear both dogs are coming on, albeit slowly in Rocket's case.

Good luck Diesel and Rocket :luck:

Thought that the attitude of these 'friends' would get a shocked response from you dog people!

Scott, we didn't need to tell them tp $&%@ off - we havn't seen them since Rockets' accident. My daughter only got to know them recently as they have horses, anyway we can do without knowing people like them!

Rocket REALLY surprised us yesterday by asking to go out at the back door for a pooh whereas before we had to judge when he needed to go out . so another milestone :)

Good news, hope he continues to surprise you!

Diesel and Rocket will both be at the northern this sunday, its amazing how much they have both improved in such a short space of time and I cant wait to meet Rocket together with Dig and the rest of his family

i feel a photo opportunity coming on :D

We're all looking forward to meeting some of the really nice people who have given us, and Diesels' owners, so much hope and encouragement over the past months. :D

Dig, Pam, Clare and ROCKET

Aww bless them  ......Lovely to see the 2 boy's out and about :huggles: ........

Thanks to everyone who made us feel so welcome at Coppull on Sunday, it's great talking to other whippet people! :p

Although Rocket is resting in the pics that Scott took, he had done a fair amount of walking around and slept soundly on the way back as did Bandit who loved his practice runs.

Diesels' recovery is amazing, except for a couple of pivots of his rear end it would be difficult to believe the trauma that he has been through, if the full story was not known . Joey, Scott, I'm afraid we all fell for your dog Forest!

Amazed in the difference in Rocket in just 3 weeks! Hope he carries on progressing like he is!

Yes, he is making good progress. He's asking all the time to play frisbee which I know is a risk but he enjoys it sooo much and it builds up his muscles, improves his agility and gets him to transfer weight onto his hindquarters. Hope Diesel continues to improve - how did the neoprene boot fit him and did it work?

He's coming along nicely, thanks for asking Hannah!

He's running but still a little uncoordinated, the strength is there though!
