I forgot that I have someone coming round today to fit my new curtain rail in the lounge so I cant go out yet..hope fully he comes soon. I was out washing down outside when the chicky next door called me.They have a wasps next and she just wanted to let me know to put the dogs inside when the chap comes to sort it..then mother sticks her head roud the door.."whats that? a wasp's nest?" she then launches into this story about years ago her next door neighbour had a nest blah blah blah..you could see the poor girl dying to get away..edging slowly down the garden...mum went on and on..and another classic she says is "well,to cut a long story short" IF ONLY  she can yab for england can maxine..iI always ask her if she goes to bed with jawache cos of all the yacking she does...she would have a conversation with the speaking clock given half the chance!! God love her

I have shut all the dogs in their room so I can wash all my floors!!! You should hear 'em!!!! Dying to get out but nooooooooo...they will go flying on the wet floor anyway cos they would all charge out like loons :D

Oh what are you lot like!!!

Afternoon all you lovelies xxx

Afternoon peeps! Nice here today, but keeps clouding over now and then. Been to pick up my specs, and they're not too bad really! I can see lovely now!! They will take some getting used to, as everything close looks stumpy, and the ground looks nearer to me than it is - that's varifocals for you  I've made an appointment to go for contact lenses on Monday. I think I can get used to the specs to look through, but hate having them on. The contacts are a free trial for a month, so I'll see how I get on with them - it will be strange though having long sight in one eye, and short sight in the other - they say your eyes compensate for each other

I had a sad bit of news this morning. We were talking about it in chat the other night, how my brother and the family had bought a labrador puppy, no papers, but they didn't mind as they want him for a pet and not to breed. They bought him from a "pet rescue" in Chippenham. They told him that a nice lady breeds them, and lets the centre sell them to make some money for the poor animals! I had previously said to them that a lab was a big dog to take on, but they said they would cope, and train him properly so he was well behaved etc. They have put up with the 3 nights of screamng, and eventually he has started to settle at night. The girls have been training him, and he is good at going outside for a wee etc. My brother mentioned to me that his heart seemed to race when he was asleep - I told him that puppies have a faster heart rate, but the vet would check it when he went for vaccination. He also said he seems to have nightmares.

Anyway, they took him to the vet this morning for vaccination, and the vet asked where they got him. They said Chippenham, and he said "I wonder why his first vaccination was done in Wales?" Anyway, he listened to his heart, and wouldn't even vaccinate him - he advised they take him back and ask for their money back, as he had a heart murmur. They rang the centre they got him from, and they asked if he had a vets report. My brother rang the vet to ask for a report, and he told them that now they had had time to digest the news - and he could see they were in shock, he told them the extent of the pups problem. He said that he grades murmurs 1-6, and that 6 would be put down immediately, and their pup had a grade 4 :- ( They don't know how to tell the girls when they come home from school, they will be devastated.

I have told them to check next time that the parents are hip scored, and PRA tested. I would have told them earlier, but didn't know they were going to go and get a puppy. I was secretly hoping that if they did, it would be a whippet. They aren't going to get another dog until after their holiday in August, and I know of a nice litter of whippets coming up for them around that time :)) So sad though, because what will happen to their pup? Steve thinks they ought to ask if they can take him to be put to sleep, to make sure they don't sell him on to someone else - it's such a difficult situation - the poor girls :'(

I don't know what causes them Sarah, and i've never had one myself, but I do know they say they are rarely a cause for concern. Possibly best the check with the doctor though

its not often i get to do a good turn for someone ,but today i did .Took the dogs out for a walk this afternoon and hadnt got far when the old bloke that lives on the front stopped me ,he must have been waiting at the window for someone to go by,he started talking about the road being tarmac, then when onto tell me about his wife dying 6 months ago ,he then asked would i like to see some pics of his wife ,so me & 3 whippets were invited in to his home ,i looked at the pics and he said he never gets to talk to anyone or see anyone , then he told me his life story all about his service in the war and then how he met his wife ,how they would have been married 60 yrs in August ,at this point he started to cry :( he showed me a medal he got from the Queen for long service with BT.He said sorry for keeping me i told him anytime he wants to talk just stop me . it made me realise after how we take for granted the contact we have each day ,whether face to face ,on here ,FB,text
