Oh the fun of picking up all the bickies from the floor......they feel almost as horrid under foot as legos
But at least sea of food was was some entertainment for the ferrets..and for you too :D

Really hurts if you kneel on a bit too! Goose continued to try and get back in the bag as I was scooping them all up...no shame and absolutely no remorse:confused: but yes they are a lot of fun, the name 'ferret' actually means 'little thief' (derived from latin word 'furittus) and they totally are!:D

How to keep the bad boys occupied while I try and clean the cages out, just to save me getting up every 30seconds to see what they are up to!!
1st, let them in daughters room,(she was out:D)
2nd, slightly open a drawer that is almost out of reach
and 3rd, tell the boys that they are absolutley NOT allowed in the drawers! I would have liked to have owned a ferret in my life, but it didn’t happen, I was always on the move doing this n that with no settled spot but I bet they would have been fun .

Friend of ours just had few ferrets after few years break from the previous ones....and seems that the price increases have hit with those as well. AND he was looking to stock up new lot of 'good quality' chickens to breed from and he said if you wanted to buy something decent...they are hard to find and you have to get your secret money stash out too.

Looks like 'good life' is becoming in fashion again  Were we are, our allotments have become sought after again too..

I know flobo, not going to happen at moment, long story, first time in my life I’ve not had dogs in my life, like I say long story, my owned dogs have been my life, work with them, trying to understand them, and feel there pain, they also was in my truck in my trucking days, some love it some did not lol but we off the point now hehe geez I go on

I love how cheeky they are!

They are fun little things. I stopped keeping them a few years ago, and I won't have any more, but I enjoyed the ones I had.

Love ferrets and I'm glad to say that where we are the occasional polecat is seen, back from over the border with Wales having been eliminated from this area by gamekeepers. They're like little bandits.;)

Spot the ferret!...
This is Sid's latest favourite place to bed up, he climbs in a drawer under my daughters bed where she keeps a collection of soft toys:D he is such a love, our special old man Sid..

Oh no. Now I really want one sometime.

Theres something unusual about them regarding neutering though, isn't there?

Not really. I had a hob vasectomised so he could bring the jills out of season naturally, and that worked well. The hobs can only be vasectomised or castrated in the spring/summer as during the winter the relevant boy bits retract into the abdomen.

Some vets can be really thick about the difference between vasectomy and castration, and several ferret-owning friends have left a ferret for a vasectomy and collected a castrate. That is very annoying as they then had to buy another hob and have him vasectomised - presumably at another vet practice.

If you don't have a hob to use as Hemlock says, a jill will go into an extended season if not mated. This leads to aplastic anemia which they generally die from...
As all my ferrets are rescues and live indoors they have all been neutered or spayed, the boys are a lot less stinky consequently too!

Gosh yes. Entire hobs really make your eyes water during the breeding season.

I also recently found out that a spayed jill is called a 'sprite', a castrated hob is a 'gib' and a hob with a vasectomy is a 'hoblet'...random information for the day!!:D:p
