And so i will, ive been wanting another whippet pup fer yonks, not just any whippet, but one of jills, im sure you can understand that, i dream of seing one of her pups run along side of mum, man i would be the proudest bloke, i will do my damn best to find homes for the pups, im sure i will, by my reckoning she's due in season this April, and i know fer a fact she'd be a fantastic mum.                        keith

Dearest Keith, I can't think of a better reason to breed from your gorgeous Jill than you wanting to have one of her babies, and see them running together. Anyone in their right mind can see how much you love her, and spend time with her. She has a wonderful life. No breeder, be it show or racing has any better a reason for breeding than you. You are a man after my own heart - you want one of her pups, the same as some people yearn to have grandchildren (not me  ), but I did want my whippets babies  To breed because you are besotted with Jill is wonderful. I wish you all the best, and I have no doubt that you will have plenty of people queuing up for one of the lovely Jill's little darlings. Keep us updated.

Goodnes me June, i read this post last neet afore i went to bed, and could i drop off, i lay there thinking of you with the most loveliest of thoughts, ive really taken to you i have, :huggles: will this turn out to be a brief encounter type of relationship, Trevor howard and Celia johnson  very few peeps have walked into my life and managed to touch my heart (w00t) but you with the above post my dearest friend, you have touched my very soul   :huggles:

LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I'm just a big softie really, and I love to see people loving this dearest sweetest breed of all (not what I was saying half an hour ago when Smidge ate ANOTHER pen :teehee: )

I'm not having a go at show people, as I have many friends who show - but the majority of people who are called "breeders" do come from the show world. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone who churns out litter after litter (but it's OK because they're a breeder) is thought of by people on here as responsible, but someone who wants to breed to keep a pup as a pet are shouted down and accused of being irresponsible and overpopulating the world with whippets. The latter have whippets who live in the house as one of the family, a lot of breeders I know keep their dogs outside because of sheer numbers - and why are there sheer numbers? because they have bred so many.

I have bred for racing, but foremostly for pets. You all talk about people asking breeders for their advice - they will no doubt point you to one they have bred themselves (human nature). Where do you get the information that breeders know best? Must we all want our dogs to look like show bred dogs? It might surprise you, but some people don't like the look of a show bred whippet nowadays - I prefer the lighter boned smaller type of years gone by. I have picked stud dogs because I like their looks, personality and temperament - which is why I have ended up with such beautiful friendly whippets 8) but certainly not for their show quality. I tend to dislike flying ears, but if I like a dog in other ways, I can disregard his ears - does that make me irresponsible? What I want to get over to you is that a whippet and a whippet make a whippet - we don't all look for the same attributes in a whippet as a show goer. As a pet breeder I have bred 3 litters in the last 20 years - hardly overpopulating the whippet world - I think you need to look at some of the so called "top breeders" if you need someone to blame for that. Oh, I forgot - that's OK because they are "breeders"

I know just how you feel.  I felt the same way about Tess, but every season I put it off like you did last season, and now my vet and I think I have left it too late and I regret it so much.  So go for it.  It will be wonderful.
You regret it so much, and i feel for you, ive a passion for dogs, well whippets, my jill is the best thing in my life at the moment, she's a superb dog lovely to be with lovely to own, im not breeding for the sake of it, but a litter for me, anyone interested in the mating, my mobile number or landline is open to all

keith

I felt like that with Sidney, he is such a laid back and soft natured dog that I can see his pups being the same

I wouldn't know where to begin though with mating and such like so we opted to get another pup.... may be next time :- "

Hello Keith

I read this site everyday but am not able to add piccys yet. I have a male whippet who is just as beautiful as Jilly and so similar. I have often thought that when I have seen her pictures. Where are you based? Louie has fathered one litter 5 years ago and the mother had 5 beautiful boys. I don't know your number but you can PM me if you want.

I'm just interested in pedigrees etc.  And also Ritchie is not a dog who I have seen shown very muchAnd we are currently going through this process even if it is 18 months ahead of us and was interested in your approach to it too

It's not just a question that I have asked you, but others I know who are planning litters in the future

One of my dogs is a Veredon dog ...Oscar...

I have seen him in the flesh once last year at EAWC where I believe he won a class, if I remember rightly!

He wasn't bred by Russ as he is a Falconcrag dog, thanks for the link to his pedigree I've not seen that before.

 Quite agree with you Kris .
We do have the odd `poster` who only come on K9 to tell about litters due or arrived .

K9 is a discussion forum and even though they dont put `for sale ` on the post we get the general idea of why they are posting, when they never, hardly if ever join in any of the other threads.

I know our moderators do a good job of spotting these

YOU HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD THERE JACKIE.

thats great news keithy, so excited for you :huggles: :huggles:

Look forward to seeing Jill & Ritchie's babies in the Summer.

Good luck :luck:

:) I'm so pleased for you, Keith :)

That heartbreaking decision you made in October, after the long wait for Jill to come into season, seemed to be the cruelest blow after all the planning and dreaming you had done and I felt very sad for you at that time :(

But now I'm chuffed to bits to hear that pretty Jilly is going to be a mummy after all and I'd bet my last penny on the fact that this will be one of the most loved whippie litters ever born

I wish you and Jill the very, very best of luck :luck: :luck: and I can't wait to see the happy family in the Summer :D

So please for you Keith,i hope it all goes well for you and the lovely Jill, you both deserve it :huggles: :huggles:

Good luck keith hope all goes to plan :luck: :luck: :luck:

My Daisy is a Ritchie daughter and has the sweetest character ever.

I think them Veredons and Collooneys have quite a connection and if Viv and Russ think its a good match then I'm inclined to agree!

Hope it all goes well for you Keith - Jill is your dog mate and I can't imagine that anyone has their dog's interests more at heart than you do - am sure if anyone can be trusted to make the right decision over planning a litter it's you

......and we're not even gonna have to badger you for pics are we? I've never know a girl more photographed that Jill - can't see you resisting puppy photo opportunities !!!!!!!!!!

:luck: :luck:
