Well at least 2 of the chins are going to be ok lets hope someone

else turns up for the others.

You had a couple of little sweethearts Janis

As you say chin's aren't the best pets for children but with so many

of them getting advertisedfree/ cheap when the owner gets bored with

them they are going to end up in insuitable homes.

People forget they can live up to 20 years.

well i went back to the breeder this evening and collected the male chinchilla that was going to be destroyed :( (by a hands around his neck fashion)

so after what would of happened to him there was really only one name for him.............ringo

he is very very nervy and has already bitten me (this is very unusual for a chinny to bite)

but im winning him over with raisins :- "

he seems to like star the female next door and has been chattering to her

his coat is quite chewed on his hips so will be interesting to see if this stops as he settles

il get some piccys soon but at the moment i think he would have a heart attack if i took a photo

fingers crossed i can get him less worried about what is going on

im not worried if he wont be handled, as long as he is happy with a good quality of life

(w00t)   i got 1 i got 1

think il call him denzeil    but if anyone can think of a good name....then lets hear it

Hes gorgeous but he looks like an Elvis to me :) :) :)

Im glad you got there in time for him, lets hope he soon

starts to settle with you, hopefully he will and then he may

stop chewing :)

Do you know i've been thinking about this.............is it legal for him to

kill the chinchilla's this way, just because they chew their fur.

No doubt they do this because of the crappy life they get, sitting in a tiny

cage with no toys or attention.

I'd like to ring his neck personally

PS, Take it easy with the raisins, i wouldnt think this little man has

had too much in the way of treats and he may get the runs :(

im offrering him only 1 per evening, as they all get just 1

gonna get some little shreddies today for them, i had a look at the breeders yesterday and they didnt even have hay

little jackson loves his hay, he has settled in brilliant, but he is only 4months old so he would adjust butter  , where ringo is a year old

he seems more settled this morning so fingers crossed

They should soon settle, they are clever little critters and im sure they will

soon realise they ahve found themselves a much better home than they

had.

My lot all sit and wait for their shredded wheat in the mornings, they love it :))

here we go  , ive managed to get a couple of piccys of ringo  , he has started to settle and not going so mental  when i put my hand in the cage

he seems to just sit up on his shelf keeping an eye on everything around him :- "

but so far, he has not fur chewed since he got here

Ringo is lovely

His fur chewing isn't to bad is it.

it is worse when you see him :( dont really show in the pic

ive not found any fur in his cage so i can only assume he has not done it here

i put a swing in his cage last night and he loved it  swinging about

he also took a raisin from my hand without going totally mental about my hand being in the cage (w00t)

all good progress so far.

thanks janimal for the links
