Hope Horace is doing ok today Jane, he's a handsome lad

but grace my daughter would like the foal to be more suitable for showjumping. saphire our mare does jump but has her limits.

Horace is  How is he bred if you don't mind me asking? Racing is my game hence the pseudonym!!!! :D

Horace is by Relief Pitcher (Welsh Term x Bases Loaded (Northern Dancer))

out of Black A Brook (Good Thyne x Gladtogetit (Green Shoon))

My mare is a stayer but her feet are like cotton wool, hence I only got one PtP win out of her. However, all her siblings (dam line) have won either NH or PtP.

A full brother is Swincombe and a half brother, Little Brown Bear.

Relief Pitcher had 4 wins in his flat career, totalling around £90,000. Preferred distance was just under the mile at 7.6f.

I am hoping that Horace will achieve the speed his dam lacks  He has inherited his sire's temperament - very laid back, so far :D

Well he has it all on paper then! Relief pitcher has done quite well on the NH/P to P scene in the past. Hope he carries your dreams to victory on the track in a few years time :luck:

He also has 2 other half brothers still racing at present i see? (Bally Conn and Free Gift) one of which i saw win at Wincanton recently! (Bally Conn has won his last 2 hurdle races) All his sibblings are more stoutly NH bred ( for stamina ) so with a little luck your lad will have a few more gears... ;)

Bally Conn was sold at Ascot Sales last April, out of Henrietta Knight's yard.

I went up to try and buy him but the bidding was up to about £12000 within seconds

so I departed quietly

Instead I bought one of the last lots, Multeen Gunner. He'll be 12 tomorrow but I'm

hoping to run him in a few ladies' PtPs. He's a front runner who prefers top of the

ground so he won't come out until late March/early April. Jackie Jenner used to own

him (Best Mate's lass). Not sure if he has 3 mile staying ability tho' but he has

won over 2.5f under rules

Free Gift was, IMO, pushed too hard and, I believe, broke down or had a similar career-stopping injury

From what i can see, Free Gift won 2 chases over 2 1/2 miles last October and has been regularly running since without being placed....he ran unplaced again on sunday at Leicester, seems to have lost his way a bit or age may be catching up on him?

Crikey! I haven't been looking and they must have got him back again from injury!

He went off the boil a bit when he moved up a grade from the pointing field. Superb

ptp'er but lost his way a bit under rules. Nice to know he has won again (all good news

for my youngster!)

Horace has been very good overnight .......... not too much kicking or screaming!!!

Hope he stays calm when I take Monty out for exercise

Jane, Will Horace and his mum eventually live together, as you can see I am a bit of an amateur where horses are concerned. He is beautiful, and Twiggy is

Jenny

Yes, Jenny, they will see each other again .......... but only after

Horace has been gelded (nuts off!) (w00t)

He has such a nice temperament that I am going to try to keep him entire

for as long as I can but I am limited on space at home and I can't turn him

out at the farm until he is gelded.

Once that has happened, he will probably live with him mum for the next

couple of years until he is ready for learning his trade

But, for the time being, he is safely tucked up in his stable with my other

horse in the stable next door for company :huggles:

Lovely photos I have two Horses Charlie who is 28 and Max who is eight, both cheeky.

Hey Jane!

Bally Conn third today at Exeter...they don't like to keep him in his box for too long do they??!!

Exeter!!!! Who is training him?

He's a big horse too, doesn't need to be out every 5 minutes (w00t)

Wish I'd had enough money to buy him - he would have made

a top class hunter chaser :(

He's with Martyn Hill who trains 8 or 9 mainly jumpers in Littlehempston, Devon. He also owns most of them including Bally Conn. I think he came from a pointing background before he took out a licence so maybe he'll send Bally down that route if he can't win anymore under rules, who knows??!!

I've only just caught up with this thread - Horace is stunning :)) Beautifully put together and very well grown  Loved the action shots of him (w00t)

I've got him in at night and out during the day, Jayne

He's got a lovely long coat and his mum did him proud - feeding him right up to the

day he was weaned so he's well covered too!

Not sure how much longer he will be able to go out for as I don't use the field when it rains

to avoid ground damage - maybe another 3-4 days according to the weather forecast

He's learning stable manners at the mo  ready for his confinement (w00t)

How is that lovely colt that was born at your yard?

..dam in rug

this little was born in sept....the mare was sold un aware that she ws in foal(she had hunted the day before giving birth..when carried twins 3 years ago you wouldnt of thought she was in foal at all...100%TB)...so mare and foal have come back for the winter

The owners tend to let them wean themselves if possible...stress free for all...but as they are colts..best to seperate before 9mths..no more accidents
