I've got varifocals too (which are really expensive!  :( ) and have worn glassses since I was about 10 and I hate it!  You can't see in the rain, and every time you open up the oven door or walk in from the cold they steam up and you can't see a thing.  Too scared to have laser surgery though so I'm stuck with them :b Did try contact lenses years ago but I've got really sensitive eyes and now dry eyes, and I just didn't get on with them at all.
My daughter has worn glasses since she was 2.5 yrs old. She tried contacts when she was older, but didn't get on with them at all. I don't think wearing glasses bothers her really.

I had to start wearing reading glasses in my 40's :( I need to go for a test soon as I haven't been for a while, and I notice I keep my glasses on a lot more than I should these days. :- " It's so expensive so have been putting it off.

am slightly short sighted - so i wear specs or contacts most of the time else I get headaches trying to pull things into focus
Yes Urchin...thats sounds like me...

Ive put off going for so long now...and have put up with headaches and eye strain...  Im finding I cant stand stopping on the laptop now for too long

maybe the glasses will sort it...

I admire you people who wear them all the time...you dont notice glasses you know...till you have to wear them yourself.. :- " I found myself looking at the guy in the shop and every person that came in looking for glasses... at the shapes and styles...thought mine looked quite trendy...

we will be needing pic's of the new trendy spec's

i really wanted to laser treatment, but my eyes are buggered and get worse every six months........so cant have it done :(

I wear mine on the PC, usually, and for the telly.

I wore glasses and contact lenses for years - until i had a close encounter with a laser! :D

There are some really trendy glasses around now - i should be needing some for reading when i reach middle age. ha ha.

Don't forget - even if you think you have perfect eyesight, you should still go for an eye test every few years as they check to see there is nothing nasty like glaucoma brewing up for the future.

Has anyone else had laser correction - brilliant for dog walking in the rain!

yes i get free eye sight tests ,my mum had Glaucoma

I'm short sighted and after wearing contacts on and off for years I now only wear them for big occasions like weddings etc. I love my full on thick black rimmed Morrissey glasses! It's like being a member of a secret club - other people with the same glasses kinda know you read the same books, like certain music etc And they cover my crows feet :D which I only ever notice in photos when I'm wearing my contacts

I've needed them for reading/computer for a few years now & it seems that the more I wear them the worse my eyes get :(

I used to be able to read larger print without glasses but not any more, I'm like Mrs Magoo without them now

Luckily I'm still ok for distance & driving.
