I was just watching my 3 year daughter cuddling up to my 8 month old whippet Louie. Louie was in heaven, lying next to her, & i thought 'how absolutely great are whippets'. He is just wonderful with my daughter Aimee, they are so good for eachother its untrue. What better breed of dog to introduce into a family with a lively 3 year old.

Sorry just wanted to share my thoughts. I didnt get a picture of the two together this time, but i'll make sure camera is at hand next time.

...whippets are just the most amazing breed in the world...so glad Aimee and Louie get on so well, wonderful life long relationship....wonderful to see

The only thing i regret is not having a whippet years ago,

they are as you say a very special breed

I can second that Ann..but then maybe we weren't ready to be allowed into their wonderful world then... :D

They are, quite simply, THE BEST breed in the world!

Beautiful, placid, fabulous with kids, not demanding of attention and training and mental stmulation 24/7 like, say, a Border Collie - I honestly can't see me EVER being without a whippet in my life ever again!

I mean......we lost Tina in horrible circumstances and vowed to never have another dog ever again and THEN, when we did realise we were only living a half life without a dog in our home, we decided on a terrier of some sort.

And look at what we came home with....... :- " Another whippet!!! :b  :- "

They are a drug!!!!!!! I swear they are!!!! (w00t)

You guys are soooo right, whippets are so special, & it is a privilege for us to be their owners.

One thing that does always spring to mind is how proud i am when i walk past another dog that just barks like mad at Louie (be it with the owner on a lead or barking from their garden when we walk past), & not one bit of retaliation do is see. Louie just thinks, 'whats going on, why all the noise?'. I feel some whippet snobbery now & again, & that whippets do not stoop to their level & bark for no good reason - my gosh, ive not even heard Louie growl yet! Sorry im so biased towards whippets, i just love 'em!

yep, i agree, Gypsy likes nothing better than curling up with my kids...........i will often find her in Betsys bedroom on a bed that Betsy has made for her out of her own bed stuff.........she sits on the beanbag with my son while he shoots aliens on the x box :- " ...........she just adores them :huggles:

Those pictures just melt my heart. The whippet is definately the best K9 companion for our little ones.

Agree 100 per cent...Whippets are definitely the Best thing since sliced bread..

You are definitely right. Penny is my first dog (after years of me and my sister begging our parents :- " ) and I don't think I will ever want any other breed of dog. My mum was never sure of getting a dog and is a bit frightened of other peoples, but you wouldn't believe the transformation in her, she absolutely loves Penny and tells everyone about her :huggles:

She is so gentle with all the kids who come up to her in the street and allows them to cuddle her. My gran who was elderly loved Penny so much, Penny was never over excited with her and always sat up on the couch cuddling into her :huggles:

Whenever we get a visitor Penny always insists on sitting up next to them for cuddles. I think whippets are such special and affectionate dogs, I can't imagine my life without one.

My husband was exactly the same! He was always scared of other people's dogs & was relunctant intially to get a dog because of how nervous he was with them. But then came along Louie... Nige, my hubby is so comfortable & relaxed with Louie, & has fallen for him too. But i must say, Nige is still petrified about meeting other people's dogs because he says they're not like Louie, they're not a whippet.

Whippets are sooo unique!
