IS IT NECCESSARY TO SHOW THESE AWFUL IMAGES OF DEAD DOGS ABANDONED OR WHATEVER.............. ?

I ADMIRE YOUR COURAGE FOR HIGHLIGHTING THESE CASES BUT..ENOUGHS ENOUGH !!

THEYRE DEPRESSING AND THE FACT THAT THE TOPIC IS HEADLINED IS AS GOOD AS READING IT....SO BEFORE I HEAR THE "WELL YOU DONT HAVE TO READ IT " CRIES.............. ...........WELL ITS AS GOOD AS WHEN YOU SEE THE TOPIC !

John, I really do understand how depressing these stories are - but just every now anf again a story causes such outcry that pure weight of response to the right place DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE for other dogs.

Perhaps there own section then those that don't wish to read it don't have to, even more simple - a new Icon giving warning of what type of post it is?

I am not in favour of these posts stopping, but would be happy to give warning in some way.

:huggles: to Storm :huggles:

have to agree with stormy on this 1, it seems certain members constantly post these types of topics for the shock value.

I agree with Jools on this one.

I dont think they they are posted for the shock value at all - but to highlight the plight of some dogs, and I think sometimes it can be of help to OTHER dogs and cases.

I agree it is very depressing :( and distressing to see - but I for one still have a look - I just cannot help it - but if I was having a bad day or for whatever reason - I just miss the post out completely - or go back to it some other time, or do not look at all.

Agree with jools and Janis  I rarely look at these threads, but certainly don't think they should be removed. Just keep putting the info in the subject line so we can make up our own minds whether to open a thread

edited to add - I don't 'not look' because I'm callous, I just find it too sad and painful, so I do understand what you're saying, Stormy, I just don't agree with too much censorship.

Iam "Guilty" of posting two of these recent topics. I put it clearly in the topic line what the post is about so anyone not wishing to read it doesn't have to.

I certainly do not do it for "shock value". I've better things to be doing with my time than posting here in the hopes that someone sonewhere might read one of my posts and be shocked.

I for one cannot turn a blind eye to how many animals across the UK and Ireland are treated. Turning your head and ignoring it will not help these animals in any way. I feel that sharing these posts and the info in them helps to educate some people as to the plight of many animals and the suffering they endure. I for one feel the need to help in any way I can.

If you don't feel the same, or wish to turn away, don't open the posts. Simple.

Well, I ain't a member of those forums, both were news to me. I thought others might actually give a dam and be interested to read them.

One of the stories I posted is from November, but the other was on BBC news dated today, hardly old news I would have thought. :- "

If you are that easily upset by such topic headings (and how else do you think we should let people know the content of our posts?) perhaps you'd better go along to some kiddie forum with much safer nicer topics.

This is a sighthound forum and this shit is happening to them on a regular basis, sorry if that f**ks up your day!!

I find it funny that Stormydog is offended by these posts but finds it ok to post racist, and unfunny jokes   :- "

Its the very same though when a POST IS MADE ABOUT a dog that is ill or has died - it shocks us too...... but WE ALSO CARE.

.....WELL enough to read it anyway, and post back.

why censor these incidents? if they upset dont come on the forum, sadly animal cruelty and neglect is more and more frequent, and so these stories are going to start being put on the forums.

people care and are passionate about our dogs, if people ignored the incidents and didnt discuss them, i would be really upset that no-one 'cares', so in posting these stories people are showing they do care.

its a fact of life mate, try working in a vets or with animals in general, you never get over seeing an abused dog fighting for its life, or treating an abusive, alcoholic owner with respect, when all you wanna do is have a go and take their dog away from them.

some people have to deal with seeing these things EVERY day, in front of them, they cant just log off, they have to deal with it. the most you can do is read it and think about the poor creature for a second, then move onto another discussion.

cruelty is an awful thing, and if its wasnt for these half brain idiots , it wouldnt happen.
