Iida the terrier's maternity diary

HUH....what rush it has been. I was up most of the night with our girl. Then she this morning she finally started to the whelping process....and it went on and on and on...not a pup on a sight. I was getting bit worried as she passed on some 'green stuff' before any pups had emerged and by the book that is not a good sign.
I make a call to emergency vet who assured that all sounds ok'ish and if she haven't done anything in a next hour then call again. As soon as I put phone down, I could see pair of legs and a tail sticking out!
Pup had decided to come out wrong way round AND it was a big one too. But all was otherwise well..within next hour she delivered 2 more and then things came to a halt again!
This time I waited another hour and as the pup didn't want to come out, we went to see our vet that had now open for the service. Left her and pups there, only to come home for a telephone call to come back and pick the mum with her 5 pups back home.
We live almost next door to the vets..so getting there is only couple of minutes job. But we had to wait for the mum to be brought to us as she had decided to give a birth yet another one!
So now there was 6.
She also had another scan to see there wasn't anything 'wrong', but it seems that everything is ok. And she should still have another pup inside, if not two!
All pups are really good size and already been suckling from the mum. Iida new what to do when they came out and cleaned and ate all the 'bits'.
So now you are all updated and I will get back to my job....keeping eye on developments..and take few photos too.

Talk to you all later....EXITING!

WELL DONE all of you.

Green stuff 'plug' before first pup is normal - shoulda asked us :)

Amazes me how they 'know' what to do. We are so useless with our own human babies.

Congratulations! And more congratulations for when the next one or two turn up! You do realise that sharing photos with us is far more important than getting any sleep, don't you?:D

Oh, you're going to have such fun watching them grow! Yes please to regular photo updates - but only if you have the time, you deserve some sleep now!

Wow they are so gorgeous love pic of puppy number 4:)
Well done Ida your Dad must be so proud of you:emoji_bouquet:

Congratulations, they are just gorgeous. And @Hemlock had the closest guess, I miss out on winning a puppy again!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH they are lovely! I never had a maternal instinct for babies, but puppies get me every time.

Lots of females makes homing easier than lots of males.

Oh wow! What a lovely little family :emoji_blue_heart:

And as I was kinda close too, saying 8, can I please have no.7:rolleyes::p:D
