I'm thinking of getting an ipod or an mp3 player. In around the £100 or less bracket.

Any reccomendations? I just want to copy my cds onto it - is that easy to do or do I need special software for my computer? Which is best; ipod or mp3?

I don't know much about these things

I have an i pod shuffle, i find it easy to use, its small in size and i think they are around the £50 pricemark, comes in some funky colours too! :D

I got an Ipod nano for Christmas and it is brilliant! OH has a Sony MP3 and just says it is nowhere near as good as my ipod..so I would definitely recommend it. I find it really easy to and Itunes is no problem either

You've got the ipod nano and creative zen which seem to be the top competitors.

My son has/had an ipod nano which is great but the controls are a little sensitive and would take a little while to get used to. itunes is easy, you can buy and download songs then just pop them on your ipod .

Well, my son now has a Sony Ericsson 850i mobile phone which is also pretty good for music and you only need to carry the one deviice, it's glued to him  I have slowly and gently started to use the ipod nano and hope that he will forget it was ever his.... crikey, he's only 13 !!

Having said that, the 'creative Zen' are a good mp3 player and the controls are easy to use.

Best thing to do is get down to Currys and have a play with them all.

OH and I had creative zens, which were fantastic, only when we got a new computer we couldn't get the software for them to work again (hours on the phone to customer support etc and nothing worked). So we treated ourselves ipods which are also fantastic. I'd find it really hard to choose between the two- both have great sound quality and are easy to use, but I think the ipod computer side is slightly more straight forward.

I have an ipod nano which is brilliant.I also have nike+ trainers, which are brilliant for when you walk the dogs. They tell you how far you have been. For more info go to the Nike web site and look for nike+,a brillliant buy for me.

My daughter has a Sony Walkman MP3 which is easy to use, so neat, great sound and also has an FM radio which lots of the others don't seem to have - she loves it!

We have two Ipods in this house (teenagers :- " ),...all the software comes with them.ready for downloading all the songs you need.

They are brilliant gadgets. :) My daughter and son previousl had MP3 players too but they didnt have quite the memory of the Ipod...but there are some better ones now on the market too.

wouldnt be without mine.

i bought a nifty lil device that allows it to be played on my car stereo too

Yes, all I want to do is upload my CDs for listening too on journeys - I'm not interested in buying music downloads.

Jo this is Spooky - I got an ipod nano for Christmas - my name is Jo AND the middle whippet in your photos looks like my Rosie's twin sister (w00t)

(w00t) I've got an ipod shuffle, bought it off a friend for £5 wouldn't be without it, wear it all the time when i walk my dogs(roads work that is) so they are on leads :- " Very very easy to use and cheap. Also water proof, has to be in Cornwall with all the bloody rain we've been getting lately. Good luck . Diane

I bought myself an iPod Shuffle, only £49 from the Apple website, and you can have it engraved on the back for free  Really easy to use aswell although the Shuffle only has 1GB of memory which some people may find a bit too small! :sweating:

Mp3's and ipods are basically the same thing but ipod nano's are more high tech you can store photos and play games on them. You don't need any special softward to save your cds onto your computer just simple do it via windows media player, which should already be on your computer anyway.

MP3 or Ipod, they both play music! :huggles:

If you're ever in Glasgow the new Apple Store has opened on Buchanan Street. It's great - they have all the different ipods there to play with - and staff are happy to explain the controls. You can spend ages in there with no pressure to buy at all and plenty of time to try the different ipods out.

I have the 80 Gb iPod video. It can hold photos, movies and all my cd collection. Like you, I didn't think i would buy music from iTunes. Boy, was i wrong. The convenience of buying single songs rather than a whole unknown CD.

Anyway I wouldn't be without it. I never listen with headphones, i just have it plugged in to my stereo and use it like that. It is like having my whole cd collection at my fingertips. I think it can hold about 20000 songs.

My DH and DS have one too. We all love them. Podcasting opens up a whole new world.

Only difference i find in my MP3 player verse's ipod is price.Argos are doin a great wee offer at the mo,on a SONY MP3 player, which i took them up on,as it's almost 1/2 price.2GB will hold all you want, and the softwear supplied is simple to use.It does photo's and video too.Playlist's are 2 year old level, they are so easy to manage.Built on the same idea and shape of the ipod, and a great wee number for under £50.00. Billy.
