In my opinion they are completely different and a lot more complex.
My whippets love other whippets - why not get your whippet another whippet companion. :- "

this comment says it all, like i said keep them in the circle

Totally sensible reply from someone who so very obviously knows the breed.

And yes, until you have lived with an IG you DONT know the breed, but only in my opinion which you can take or leave :)

na think i will keep well clear of the ig world sounds like of people in there own little world.i was wanting one of these little dogs to use as working dog as they were bred for not a carpet dog for getting my ego up on the show seen.think its a tangle web i just feel sorry for the breed as its dieing out as aworking breed.and thats not been nasty to all ig owners cos i know some use them for hunting
They were bred thousands of years ago (reportedly, in Egypt and then brought to the Mediteranean countries by the Romans) as 'companion' or 'lap' type dogs while the bigger versions did the hunting.

Anyway, I'd like to see an end to all the repetitions on this thread so All The Best with your working dogs  - I'm off to cuddle my iggies (who do get to go rabbiting). :huggles:

Oh so would I zilloot :D

It's definitely time to leave this thread alone! After all what is the point in posting when there is a small minority who deliberately misunderstand & take comments out of context?

As I said in an earlier post you have obviously not read & understood many of the posts correctly!

Zilloot & I are fairly new to the breed & yet we have both found the experienced Iggy owners & breeders to be very helpful, informative & friendly & perfectly happy to let us have puppies from them

You obviously have difficulties understanding posts & determining different topics so i will explain in simple terms:

"And yes, until you have lived with an IG you DONT know the breed, but only in my opinion which you can take or leave" - THIS WAS REFERRING TO PEOPLE BRANDISHING ADVICE ABOUT A BREED THEY HAD NEITHER LIVED WITH OR KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT.

The above statement was NOTHING whatso ever to do with people buying or homing an IG if they had not already had one.

Thank god for small mercies

Yes "some" use them for hunting in this day & age BUT they are not raced here & rarely used even for ratting in this country, most IG's came into this country to be lap dogs to the aristocracy.

Oh well said Nina!!

Thanks, i just wish those that clearly knew nothing about the breed would keep these ridiculous comments to themselves.

The thing is i dont think this type opf person is really concerned about IG's or a breed in particular i think they just see it as a bit of fun to try & wind people up & stir a bit of trouble.

I think posts in future are best ignored

Yes, so do I & a bad case of sour grapes because no genuine breeders will let them have an IG

i cant understand what on earth these comments about closed shops are about.i think nina is right and this person is just a wind up merchant. :- "

nina im not the first u have wound u up on here so it takes one to know one, just stick to the topic i think anyone breeding a bitch under 2yrs old is out off order and most of the people iv talked to about this seem to say the same

HELLO????

I AM sticking to the topic re: Italian Greyhounds, however YOU are not even posting on the correct thread (w00t)

You are obviously somewhat "confused" for want of a better word ;)

No where in this thread is there ANYTHING about breeding bitches under 2 years old & if you actually read the thread in question you will find I have not even posted on it.

Go back to the correct thread (if you know which one you were meant to be replying to) and irratate someone on there with your inane remarks -_-

(w00t) Nina you are one to talk. After your recent personal attacks on another board member when she was asking for advice about her mum's rescued Yorkie and you were going on at her about IG's. With not a word from you about housetraining or Yorkshire Terriers. Now that was off topic. Pot and Kettle comes to mind.

Beejay ........................

I was atleast on the topic :))

The certain board member has IG's plus whippets & had just had a x breed litter, the mother had yorkies which i merely pointed out that i hoped did not end up in yet another x breed litter on the way, which is where the connection was ;)

Please tell me where the connection is here talking about IG's one minute & breeding bitches under 2 the next.

I dont think its quite the same scenario at all

IG FAQ

I hope everyone who's contributed to this interesting thread will come and share experience and knowledge in the new IG FAQ section

A few years ago we were considering having a Iggy,we knew of someone who owned and shows Iggys quite local. So one day we were invited to come and meet the Iggys at her home and spent a few hours with them and finding out about them.although they are adorable   we found they were scatty   .

We then after had a good talk about it and decided we would not have one, although they are gorgeous and very sweet.we decided to stick with our whippys. We have not regret our decision,we know we made the right one.Its just a pleasure to see them them in the ring and make a fuss of them.I spoke to someone last weekend at a show who got a whippy and a Iggy and unfornunately the Iggy has broken its leg,but is on the now mend :D
