just read that last night jane lost her fight for life. after being diagnosed with breast cancer she battled on for 7 years defying the killer disease.

throughout the struggle she amassed £1.75 million for charity through various events. she done marathons and cycle rides in adverse conditions for various organisations...in one event she cycled across america !

sad loss of a wonderful woman.

isnt it a shame our shite government ploughs money into some of the most ridiculous projects instead of ones were its needed most.

JOHN

What a wonderful woman she was. I never tired of listening to her speak, she was a true inspiration. Andrew's godmother died just before Christmas, she too had breast cancer and was just 36 years old. The world is a poorer place with the loss of such inspiring people and you are right John, it beggars belief that the government spends money on some of the things it does and yet whether or not you are allowed certain treatments depends on your postal code.

RIP Jane

Jenny

Thoroughly agree with you both.

She was amazing, her family must be so incredibly proud of her.

R.I.P.Jane

a fighter right to the end

Jane was in St.Gemma's Hospice at the same time as my Nanna and she was a really lovely lady.

She had a kind and gentle word with my dad the day my Nanna passed away last week...even though she was so badly herself.

I don't want to hijack Stormy's thread but the Hospice does such a wonderful job and the staff are such wonderful people, I can't speak more highly about them.

A truly amazing person. :)

RIP Jane

I really do have to take issue with you here. We have had three relatives suffering with breast cancer and the side effects of breast cancer this summer; James's mother who was diagnosed a couple of months back, and his two aunts who have been battling with cancer for 17 years.

We really cannot fault about standard of treatment they have received. His mother was operated on very rapidly and was fortunate enough not to have the disease extensively, though if she had her doctors discussed a number of further interventions. The aunts have been kept alive by expertise of their oncologists, and benefited introduction of new drug treatments. Sadly one lost her battle in July, and succumbed to secondary lymphoma of the pancreas, a side effect of previous radiotherapy, but the expertise of her NHS doctors gave her the gift of 17 years that she might not otherwise have had. The other aunt is currently undergoing various treatments to control the spread of her cancer as she seems to have developed resistance to the drugs that have previously been controlling it extremely effectively.

I'm very sorry to hear that someone else has lost their battle, I know how awful it must be for the individual concerned and all her family, as we've just been through it ourselves, but please don't denigrate the excellent work being done in the country to try to score a cheap political point.

Please don't you dare accuse me of that !!! Typical someone takes the whole point of this post away!!

This is a post very close to my heart so don't even nearly make this ones about our shite government

You are lucky if your people got the right treatment

edited with Stormy's permission, and to say to try to keep the post on track as it truly is about the loss of a wonderful woman who slipped through the cracks in the system.

Well it's close to a lot of peoples hearts as sadly it's quite a common disease.

I honestly don't think it's merely luck, as our relatives were spread accross the country (Beds, Notts and Oxon) and all have had excellent and extensive treatments to keep the cancer at bay and restore a good quality of life. I really wouldn't want anyone newly diagnosed with this awful disease to suffer additional anxiety caused by your suggestion that the NHS doesn't give treatment that is up to scratch.

this is such sad news :(

she did so much to raise money, will she was suffering, her family should be very proud of her.

my mum had cancer 2 years ago, and i have to say got excellent treatment, so did 2 other members of my family, one of which sadly died a year ago, as there was nothing they could do for him :(

RIP Jane

Cancer is a subject that I think has touched everyone in some way or other,be it a relative or themselves that has suffered at this dreadful diseases hands.

My heart goes out to Jane's family circle and friends and I know they must be very proud of her and the fight that she put up and in the end unfortunately lost. :(

R.I.P Jane....you were an inspiration to an awful lot of people and will remain so.

I have just lost my Nanna to cancer and I cannot complain about any of the treatment she recieved.

I can see where Stormy is coming from as some people don't get the treatment they need but in alot of cases people do and this has to recognised and commended.

Please don't make this thread a battle ground lets just agree to differ because cancer is so close to many of our hearts and arguing about politics is so pointless when we should be remembering those who we have lost and hoping those who are suffering get better or find peace.

I didn't know Jane but my thoughts are with her family, friends and all who knew her.

It appears that Jane was a very special person and we need more people like this in today's world

My mum was treated for breast cancer last November - thankfully she now has the 'all clear'. Her NHS treatment was instant and excellent.

'People come and go ........... memories are forever'

RIP Jane

RIP Jane, an inspiration

My grandmother died with cancer last Christmas, she was treated terrible by the NHS so we went private unfortunatly it was too late for any real treatment.

last week i have also found out that my Dad now has it too :( hes having tests to find out the extent . Fingers crossed it will be very mild :luck:
