I have just had one of those " Cold Calls" from a call centre claiming they were phoning on behalf of the Kennel Club who wanted to inform me of a new product .

I hate telesales ( worked there for too long) They asked me my post code which I did not answer but asked what the product was, they would not tell me.

Is this the KC employing and call centre ?? (They must have Too much money)

If the KC want to tell me about new products they can use my post code as they do have it and they write most weeks any way with some flyer or an other !

maybe some patient person has spoken to them already and can tell us what this exciting new product is .

 not received that call! how odd... we, like yourself, get a few leaflets etc. good that you wouldnt reveal your post code  at best you wound up a genuine thing, at worst you stopped a scam

No I haven't had one either, I get the Kc news thing but they have all my details anyway

 I've had the call it's about life insurance they wan't speak to my OH even though he is a joint owner in all but one of my dogs They say because you own a kc reg dog you are entitled to 3 months free insurance you can't get rid of them when them and then they keep phoning if you say no

I am Sooooo glad I didn't give my post code!!

Life insurance From the kennel Club ?? Whatever next (w00t)

i had a cold call like this a few months back after i registered my puppies, was to continue the kennel club health insurance after the 6 weeks freebie had run out, was from an agency claiming to be working for the kennel club, the lady was very insistant and asked lots of questions, even though i kept telling her that i had alternative cover elsewhere, in the end in desperation i had to put the phone down on her, so far to date i havent received any other calls from them!

LIFE INSURANCE !!!!!!!!

What a novel idea. Calling someone to see if you can "help" them with insurance. Such nice people, thinking of others. :- "

I wonder if this kind of friendship will catch on. Getting people to help other people with things they "need'. Like , insurance, time share, mobile phones, or even onr from the local car yard just to see if they can "help". :b

Yes I've hd the same call as this too,the caller was female with an American accent?? No mention of postcode but rather persistent, think I might try the hanging up approach next time she calls

Welcome to k9 TPH

Any type of cold call as soon as they say who they are or I'm not trying to sell you anything. I just say no thank you and put the phone down. I hardly get any now.

(w00t) To the best of my knowledge the KC do NOT do any cold calling for any of their products, so I would just tell whoever calls you to go and take a running jump. Insist that they take you off their database as the law states that if you request that they are obliged to do it. Take a note of the date and time of the call and if you can get the name of the caller.

If you keep being pestered complain to the Data Protection Registrar as they will look into things like this.

I had a one too a few weeks ago - aksing if I wanted to take out the KC Dog Insurance with them, as my name is now on register.

I used to get loads of `cold calls , (w00t) but the thing that used to get me really annoyed was the way they said my surname , its Whitaker , but we`d get White acre  Wit , akker , , I used to say ,get my b  y name right and I might listen to you , of course 99% of these calls were form overseas , India , China and some from USA ,by their accents .

Often I used to make out i was interested , put the phone on hands free and continue to do what ever i was doing before being interupted , they soon got fed up with not getting any reply  , then sometimes id ask them if they like to be hassled with people wasting there time when I was trying to relax in the evening , one caller even told ME to fu  k off . I wished Id remembered who he was calling for

For those on SKY , beware , one company is ringing and sort of making out they are Sky with `cover , they are NOTHING to do with Sky

,But you can get cold calls stopped and thats what we did , ;)

Somebody told me that even better; do not hang up, but put the phone down and apparently they will not be able to make another call until you hang up.

I just never ever give any info to anybody who calls here, you never know if they are who they say they are. I would not be surprised if your KC has absolutely nothing to do with it. Unless they sold the member list to somebody.

Also apparently when you press the hash keys repeatedly when you answer a call from a call centre it knackers up their computer system :- "

Thats very handy to know

I have tried the "pressing the hash keys" thing. It seems to work.

Another thing I have done if I am really annoyed with "cold callers" is asking them if they can hold the line for a moment, put the (cordless) phone down near to the radio, and then wander away and leave them to it. They don't phone back for a repeat performance ... we now have "Caller Display" on our phone and often I don't pick up if it is an "international" call (I don't know anyone who lives overseas), withheld number or an 08700 or whatever.

My, I am getting tetchy in my old age!! :D :D

I too thought all overseas calls came with international displayed , but a friend rang who lives down south , and I said I didnt realise you were on holiday and she said the phone company she uses sends the calls abroad first and then they come back,( highly techical :- " ) So that throws that theory out of the window Im afriad , cos I was them same as Wilfred In fact i was ready to give her ``the treatment ` when I recognised the voice   :- "
