Due to a member who raced with us Sunday reporting that 1 of her dogs has been diagnosed with Kennel Cough the clubs last meeting of the year this Sunday has been cancelled as have training sessions till at least the end of November as a precaution.

What a shame ..... Its just never worth the risk is it ... :luck: no other dogs go down with it :luck:

Sorry to hear that but thanks for the heads up. I'm hoping that no one who's been to the club is planning on going to the South West Lure Coursing Event or The Venture Hill Sprint, or any other racing for that matter so this gets nipped in the bud.

It would probably be kinder for the organisers of these events to contact the people from the club involved privately TC. It is fairly obvious who was present at the Lanky and has entered the SW lure meeting. Perhaps a phone call :- "

Not sure a public forum is appropriate when it is a small club we are talking about and an easily contactable number of people.

Certainly didn't mean to offend anyone Jo, and I don't know who goes there on a regular basis other that Mark  So it's not fairly obvious to me, sorry.

I'm sure TC meant no harm. I will be at Venture Hill Sprints so am interested in who has been where etc and as Tracy said, it isn't obvious to me either

I did say that I am sure Tracey meant no harm Chris.

just to confirm that i had been in contact with those at Southwest lure coursing event as soon as i found out about the KC this morning to discuss withdrawing my dogs from the event.

It is evident to all, if the Lancashire results for Sunday are viewed, that the Winterfells are the dogs that ran with the suspected KC case and had entered the Southwest event this weekend.

I am a responsible dog owner/lover and we will not be attending this weekend.

We may however, providing my dogs continue to show no signs of KC, enter events following the incubation period.

Hopefully this will stop the further spread

Its such a shame Sarah we'll miss you and the gang :( but you are right you are a very responsible dog owner and we all thank you for that :huggles:

For the record we haven't been at the Lancs for a few weeks

thanks Lesley.... your comments mean a lot.

Good Luck to you guys :luck: and all our friends :luck:

Isn't kennel cough a pain  .....I hope your girls stay cough free so you'll be able to come to the hill sprint

Sorry you can't come Sarah, totally commend you on contacting the relevant people as soon as possible.

Hope the dogs don't show any signs, KC is miserable :(

Just want to add that I had no idea who was racing at the Lancashire, and not the foggiest of who is entered at the Hill Sprint and that is why I posted. KC can spread so easily as we all know, and I'm afraid I worry about my dogs getting infected. I know they can get it anywhere, but when you know it IS somewhere, it makes sense to take precaution.

SARAH LAYFIELD IS THE ONLY PERSON WITH DOGS ENTERED IN THE SOUTH WEST LURECOURSING EVENT THIS SUNDAY THAT HAS BEEN UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE IN POSSIBLE CONTACT WITH THE SICK DOG.SHE CONTACTED ME BY PM LATE THIS MORNING ON BEING ADVISED OF THE POSSIBLE PROBLEM BY EMAIL FROM MARK. IN MY OPINION SHE ACTED IN A PROMPT, HONEST AND HONOURABLE MANNER. ON BEHALF OF THE SOUTH WEST LURECOURSING CLUB I THANK HER AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING HER DOGS GRACE FUTURE SOUTH WEST EVENTS

I hope your lovely girls are OK Sarah, and we'll miss all of you this weekend. Hopefully see you soon. :huggles: (Be honest - you were terrified of being drawn against the formiddable STAR  )
