>I believe Cockeymoor Flyer was banned because he was a black dog from a brindle and a fawn parent, which you can't get.

From what I understand ;- what's also 'interesting' about this is that the supposed 'real' sire was a fawn so the dam must have been wrong too.

All that aside he still was never de-registered by the KC so was still a registered pure bred whippet.

Unless the "real" sire wasn't the real sire either :D

I'm no colour expert, but isn't it possible for a dog that actually looks black can infact be geneticaal brindle?

I do know that the three Besaps dogs exported to Canada were blacks as far as I could tell.

Cream has been shown to mask brindle and also blue. The blue pups were bred in the UK and there is no doubt about their parents. A lot of us on here know the breeders.

If a cream can mask those colours then it could also produce a black pup. I know of black stud dogs that produce creams in almost every litter so why wouldn't one of those be able to produce a black pup?

June,        Theres only 1 person for sure knows the breeding of any pups they breed and thats the breeder, if a breeder owns both the claimed sire & dam of a litter bred then wouldn't it be easy for them to nip a few hundred miles and use a non ped on the quiet but claim there dog was the sire!.
Always wondered why no-one's done that actually :b

They probably have Vicky but to my mind if they get caught they should be banned from every spere of dog activaties (racing/showing ect) when anyone buys a KC reg pup they are buying it on good faith that every thing is as the breeder claims so anyone that got caught must be punished servierly.

I agree Mark. It's fraud as well as cheating if it's a racing bred pup.

i can remember about 20 years ago a well known winning pedigree standard poodle bitch was taken to an equally well known winning stud and left in the care of the studs owners to be mated.the bitch duly became pregnant and delivered a healthy litter of pups.the owners were furious however and sued the owner of the stud dog and won and was awarded astronomical damages.why?cos both parents were white an the pups were black! the stud dog owner also had a black standard stud dog in his kennels at the time.i can remember it being front page news in the dog press at the time. :- "

White x white whippets can produce blacks IF one of them is black. Oh or blue of course if the other one is a non dilute.
