This wee club is holding another show&racing,on the 13th september.Racing starts at 11.30 am,and Kirsty and myself, will be looking after the racing side of things from now on.Hopefully we can get our act together right from the start,so's there's no hichops. This show is a fund raser for the club.As up till now,all proceeds have gone to charities. From this year on,the club is looking to build this event bigger and better, and the only way to do this,is to spend a bit of money on equipment, and other neccessaties, such as netting n stuff. We also want to improve, and lengthin the race track, and take it into the next field,by removing a portion of the bottom ditch. This al takes time and money.I am also looking to include hurdles for next year too.but for now, could i please ask for youre support this time. You all know the effort that is put in to this clubs shows, with loads of meal n good quality trophies.Unfortunately, the meal will not be available in such abundance this time round, owing to shorter notice, and lack of sponsers.Hope to see as many of you there,as there was at the last one.

is there any greyhound showing at it billy

Dont think so Leanne. But i'll put it to the members,n c wat comes out of it.

It would be nice to see a few more different greyhounds at the shows :D

Good one Billy  lets hope the weather is a bit dryer than the last one

hope to see you there and am glad we are getting another meet in the northwest this year

I noticed the question about greyhounds

Do you think a show class for retired/pet greyhounds would attract entries? and/or that owners of racing greyhounds would want to show them?

As you know, I'm most interested in racing my dogs. But the greyhounds have their own venues for racing so I wouldn't expect to have purebred greyhounds racing at Donemana if that was the suggestion.

well they show whippets at lurcher shows so why not grayhounds but shouldnt race unless they have enough to run just grayhounds ;)

yeh why not, theyll get their arses kicked too  i remember a couple having a go at our training days they done shit all too  when we were a club. Infact while we`re at it we can race Sammy springer too and maybe get my brothers Deerhound.

Donemana Lurcher & Terrier & Springer and Whippet and Greyhound and Deerhound Show

Go on Billy you know you want to really....this could be the first show ever in the UK that races just about what ever we have in the house lol

Coatsy.....bring yer pigeons mate...sure we can race them too

sorry leanne , its got not nothing to do with making a mockery outve billy , dunno where you get that from  Maybe its best i say exactly what i think then...firstly anyone who races or trains greyhounds should come on here put this to bed before it starts to look silly. Racing greyhounds are governed by Boards which control the racing, theres are separate ones for the Uk and for Ireland which state how they should be kenneled and raced.

As some girl from england posted on here a while back Greyhounds are by law NOT allowed to be run with other dogs OR kenneled with other dogs. Maybe its got to do with them picking up viruses from other dogs then spreading thru Elite racing greyhounds..i dunno but it might be some other reason.

Also if you were there at the end of some of the shows here which sometimes is after 8pm youd see that theres just not enough time to run another class of racing (not my words..organisers words). Thats not the main issue though. heres why

and lets be realistic...it doesnt happen any where else because of the various legislations laid down by Greyhound Racing governing bodies...Youve just set off on a new career chum and id love to see it work for you, so rather than encourage you to get into trouble id like to help you not misguide you....its a pity the ones who know this stuff havent the balls to pass comment.

Retired or Rescue greyhound show classes appear now and then in England....which is always nice to see. Sadly here we dont have too many of either cos theyre passed thru the dickhead brigade then disposed of.

hope that helps you Leanne....

i see nothing wrong with retired greyhounds or racing greyhounds that have not made the grade and then become pets showing or even racing the club i have been a member for years have its own racing and showing class for retired greyhounds, but what you can't do whether your registered with the icc and the gbgb as it is now know, is take actual racing greyhounds to shows or straight racing as they are licenced to race within and only within the racing bodies, this also means they have to kenneled with there own type not with other breeds of dogs your not even allowed to transport them with other breeds, these are the rules and you have to abide with them because the way they see it which is right, anyone can tamper with these dogs, and if that happened and you explain where they have been outside the kennel and racing enviroment, you will probably loose your licence and never be able to get another one, this is not to offend but the rules are clear within the racing bodies, so if anyone is contemplating taking any greyhound out other than a pet, read your rule book first :)
